What postage to pay?

This.

If he says he'd pay for standard delivery @ £40 or whatever it is, then I would personally swallow the extra £30-40 to send it tracked and valued appropriately.

If you're not prepared to pay the extra then tell him that he needs to cover that level of shipping or you're not prepared to sell.

What ever you do, I wouldn't ship it untracked or under-valued.

Well it's looking like the cheaper courier quotes I'm seeing now, around £25 to £30, are reasonable enough not to have to worry about it, I'm sure he'll be ok with those.

Parcel Monkey are coming out even cheaper. Only £7.99 to insure up to £500 and DPD £16.79 inc vat. I'll do a live chat with them on monday to find out if there's any extra costs.

I'm going to be the first to say it, but surely it's common sense that if its circular, the height and width are the same? :p

If you left height as zero, you'd have a 2D object. :D

You're right of course. I wasn't thinking of height in terms of width. I kept thinking of height as the same as length, like standing it up on it's end, I'd call it length but also height. Even this guy says it :p

"If your cylinder is standing upright, you might call the "length" a "height" instead"

I only know they are decent because we use them at work

Might be a bit late to ring now not sure what time they pack up.

Thank you for this. All the others including parcel monkey have exclusions and restrictions where I couldn't insure the item but myparceldelivery do insure. £61 including £500 insurance cover, but I'm charging the buyer £50 and I'll cover the balance.

I've got the buyer waiting and now I need bubble wrap! Cannot fit any inside the box as there's no space so I've been recommended by myparceldelivery to wrap about 2 inches thickness of bubble wrap on the outside of the box. I've looked online and cannot find bubble wrap on the bay or rainforest where people don't say that the quality is rubbish and thin. Has anyone bought bubble wrap from either place? Would it matter if I got small bubbles? I reckon I'll need a 50 metre roll by 500mm wide?

Is this the kind of item that could be excluded from some couriers compensation? Something to double check perhaps ( I have no idea what it actually is :p)

Yep, had a hard time finding a courier service that doesn't exempt this item from compensation but the restricted list at myparceldelivery.com seems to be fine. It's a spring reverb unit, so, studio equipment. They say musical instruments and amplifiers are on a no compensation basis, but this is strictly speaking neither, it's an effects unit that guitars plug into. I did live chat with them today and showed a picture of it and described it and he said it should be fine.

Fly it there yourself and have a weekend in Denmark. :)

I would do but my Lear Jet is out of fuel. :/
