New Servers

I assume you guys already know about this, but every few minutes while browsing the forum I start getting 'connection denied' errors for ~20-30 seconds, before the forums come back again. This is on Plusnet Fibre (if that helps).

I'm on plusnet BB and get that randomly too. Also got it on my phone when i was out and about, i think it's a server issue rather than ISP issue.

Sounds like a misconfigured webserver to me, also they are still using Apache. Nginx would be better imo.

I have been getting the "could not connect" error on Firefox as well. It certainly is not faster either. Not for me anyway. Some pages are still taking a good few seconds to load.

People need to clear cookies clear dns

Its been absolutely fine for me.

Iv been using it on mobile, at home, office

Just out of curiosity though are there any load balancers involved? People keep commenting on sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't

I was clearing all caches and trying multiple DNS servers, clearing the DNS every time with a Firefox plugin (Flush DNS) and I finally got it working this morning using Google DNS but that all went pear shaped again this afternoon / evening and all I could get was a blank white screen.

Fine again now though, so fingers crossed the hiccups are over.

It's still not working for me on Virgin fibre. It's getting a bit annoying now tbh... None of my email links work.....

What doesn't work? What dns servers are you using? Are they assigned on your router ?

Statically assign google dns to your network adaptor, flush dns, clear all cookies and cache etc.

Do an nslookup for the domain name what do you get? Try and browse

could explain some of the errors if anti virus etc stopping the browsers?

If it was then my AV would have done the following instead of my browser showing a blank page when I tried to access the forums.

*DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* MALICIOUS WEBSITE BLOCKED

It took an age for plusnets DNS servers to catch up completely (I had several instances where I could access the forums normally, but after a few minutes I hit the servers have moved brick wall and I had to use the IP address to gain access again) and even after I'd cleared the DNS cache to get it working with firefox for the most part, chrome was still pointing to the old IP addresses since on occasion the response I got from nslookup pointed to the old IP addresses and this afternoon I had the issue with the blank page when accessing the forum and the only time I managed to get in I was kicked back to the blank screen when I tried to log in but it looks like everything is back to normal now (typed while leaning on wood).

I will look into it tomorrow. I just get a black screen telling me my network provider will update shortly or something like that.

I have cleared out the relevant cookies and cleared the history but it makes no difference. It does seem like a lot of farting around to fix someone else's problem tbh. No other site has this issue ?

It still wasn't working on EE DNS this afternoon until I changed to Google DNS.

The proper way to do things is to have your dns servers separate from the web servers so you don't get this problem when you move web servers.

What? The forums are hosted at Tempus London, and the name servers are hosted at AWS.

Looks like the TTL for forums.overclockers.co.uk was dropped to 5 minutes, but was this done before the move?

nslookup -qa=A -debug forums.overclockers.co.uk ns-1247.awsdns-27.org

ANSWERS:
-> forums.overclockers.co.uk
internet address = 185.103.4.11
ttl = 300 (5 mins)

I assume the DNS server entries were changed to AWS at the same time as the web server move...

Web servers and DNS used to be at ServerStream.
