Buyers Ignorance?

depends on the advert really - has he mentioned that it will work on a PS4 or not?

Why does it depend on the advert for my statement to be true? If the trick works then the headset isn't faulty, and if the headset works on another device then the headset isn't faulty...

if it is claimed to work on a PS4 but doesn't or kind of does if you slide it in slowly after finding a youtube video telling you this trick etc... then it isn't going to be surprising for a buyer who isn't aware of that to want to return the item

Hmm only ones sold on ebay since 4th September have been by one seller and he has sold 8 so far.

Are you a shop? :P

Basically if you listed the item as being compatible with a PS4 then he is entitled to a refund.

If not then tell him its his problem.

I never stated it's compatibility. Also the fact he purchased via but it now without asking me any questions seems to me that he's searched "gaming headset", seen mine, googled it, seen it was cheaper than anywhere else, then just hit buy it now. Pure, pure ignorance is what this reeks of.

I'm a guy with more common sense than your average Brit so when his email popped up I was more than surprised.

He's not responded to my email since I sent him the video of how to put jack a into jack b, though yesterday he was regularly pinging back and forth.

If he wanted a refund and got one from PayPal, would he have to send the item back? Genuine question.

Ebay....

Seller ))¬ = Getting shafted by Ebay and buyer

Buyer V., = Putting two fingers up to the seller.

Hope that clears the matter, sorry for my bad ascii art! :p

I thought the V was a curious attempt to depict a vag in 3 ascii chars. Since the top one was obv the male member.

I was trying to work out the second one too tbh haha, saw the first one and it's message from the off lol.

All of the pessimism has been entertaining here :p seems some are a bit more robust to just bending over though and actually think before they take action ;)

At least if you disagree with Paypals decision and they chase you for a debt, you have the Financial Ombudsman to turn to.

They pretty much told Paypal to get off my case over £120 as they concluded I was in the right.

You can't reason with the guy.man :p

Well it would matter if the advert said "SteelSeries Siberia V2 for PS4 - 100% compatible"?

With no mention that you have to do a "trick" to get it to work.

But very unlikely the Op's advert says this and I agree with you, if the headphones work, they work.

If it actually works though, it's still 100% compatible. It's akin to having to install some software to get your USB headset to be fully functional.

It's still 100% compatible, you just have to take a few steps to achieve that.

A bit like a 2 pin plug - in that it's compatible with a 3 pin if you ram it in?

Seriously, I don't think the original ad has to say anything about the PS4, it's up to the buyer to do the research if the wants it. Jeez I though everyone did that before clicking Buy it Now.

Seriously, I don't think the original ad has to say anything about the PS4,

no one said it does

we're questioning if it does or not and saying if it did mention the PS4 then the buyer might have a point

OP hasn't linked to the ad AFAIK so we don't know either way
