Nice find ;) Nearly down to a price I want to pay! Games seem to fall so quick these days its worth a little wait.

Unless you are sitting on a pile of cash there's really no good reason to pay full price. Especially with single player games I don't understand why people would put out £50 for a game that will surely drop in price in a couple weeks time...

I played it for a bit and found myself a bit overwhelmed by the mechanics of the game play. Some of the missions I could do fine but the ones where you have to go to x to find a certain target despite following tutorials and tips I could never find them and just gave up. Very easy to gain money thought it wasn long before I got a Viper. Also need to read up on a few things like what best weapon configuration for each ship.

I gave it a rest and then got myself a Thrustmaster joystick off here for a tenner and when I have the inclination I am going to dive back in. Worth £17.99 if you like space sims.

If you are dead set on buying Elite: Dangerous I would wait until the next expansion launches this holiday season. If you buy now you will only have access to the original game and not the new expansions coming out end of this year and during next year.

EDIT: I bought Elite: Dangerous earlier this year but only got around to playing it this weekend, it is very addictive :) I've made my first million credits trading and bounty hunting. Hopefully more and more content will be added which will help to maintain my interest.

Hang on, this is all being released as DLC? That's utterly ridiculous. The game is barely finished right now and they're still working on it, but a DLC is right around the corner? I stopped playing in February because the game wasn't complete, there's loads that still needs to be put in and it's just a boring grind at the moment. Planetary landings etc was something they said they were patching in, and now it's DLC? Great! Apparently their idea for adding more content will be the usual paid DLC route. I'm out!

I like your little edit to add something to have a dig at me. When did I say I was an expert? I haven't played the game in 7 months because there's nothing that's been released that makes me want to go back right now. I was excited for the game and bought it before launch, but unfortunately for me the experience hasn't been enjoyable, you just end up doing the same thing over and over again in a grindy way. The planetary landings interested me as something different to do, but I had no idea they'd be an expansion. The last I heard it was all going into the base game. It is possible it was just a rumour but still, finding out that I'd have to fork out £40 on an expansion for a game that's still very much in the process of being developed isn't great to be honest.

I don't have it to hand, it was in some Q&A or email or something, I'm sure I read it around Christmas time last year just after release. I'll see if I can find anything about it.

I'm pretty sure I read before release that planetary landings would be paid DLC. However I do agree with everything else you've said, I got bored very quickly, the game lacks content and was incomplete when launched. I realise they've added some content (I read the weekly email they send out), but its still not enough, so it does seem a bit off to release paid DLC when the base game you've already paid for is so lacking.

The other thing, £40 for the DLC! What is with this new trend of charging the price of a full game for DLC, if it was £10-15 fair enough, but £40!
