Pretty much the best MG archetype and roll. High impact, 87 rounds, counterbalance and persistence. I'm going to be rocking a blue RL in the raid otherwise
Also means I'll be rocking all NM armour and weapons....just the arse-towel letting me down

Regarding factions; should I sign up with one now? Should I be looking to get rep with them all?
Have a snoop at what the vendors are offering and go for the one that has the stuff that appeals most....there isn't any intrinsic difference like there used to be. Definitely sign up for at least one though otherwise you'll be wasting rep.
The NM AR is great, the sidearm I've found very good in PvP, and the MG is one of the best.
Dead Orbit have a nice shotgun, scout rifle and rocket launcher. The FWC hand cannon, launcher and fusions look good.
Personally I'm full on New Monarchy on my titan. Look like a red and white badass complete with furry bits

The idea is to pick a faction and stick with them.
Each rank up gets you a faction reward package that gives you legendaries, emblems, shaders, a ship etc..
As for which one, there is very little actual real difference. Everybody is fawning over the Dead Orbit Scout Rifle, but then everybody is also fawning over the Future War Cult Hand Canon.
Each has their own unique colour style. Pick whichever one you fancy, but you should definitely choose at least one faction. Personally speaking, i have 3 characters, one with each faction so I don't miss out on anything

I did a test with a weapon where I was XX8 light then dropped by 2 light to xx6.
Using the same primary I did the exact same damage.
I was told it was because the enemy was a lower light level than me.
It's best to test stuff in the raid where enemies are higher light than you. that is where you can see the "true" effects.

Cheers for the info lads. Will get right onto choosing one when I get home. Not too bothered about weps (although the handcannon sounds tempting), so I may just do it more for the shaders than anything else

Every rank you go up you get given a package, this package can include anything - weapons, armour, ships, shaders. Once you are rank 3 (or is it 5) with the faction you can buy armour and weapon. Even if you 'leave' that faction your rep remains so you still buy things. Shaders and ships are only available through packages which are sheer luck.
Is this the "Down And Doubt 00-0" one?
LOL, I've got both. Haven't paid them much attention as I've been levelling Hawkmoon up.
Looking at them, my Down And Doubt has less impact and range than The Vanity but better perks - precision kills explode and radar stays active on DAD but Vanity has missing a shot returns ammo chance and bonus damage when enemies are in close proximity. I prefer DAD I think looking at the perks but really need to take them for a spin.

So after some hesitation on whether I should jump back in to Destiny, I am well and truly back in again, or at least for now until I sicken myself
Currently at light 286 with my Titan. I'm choosing not to run any alts this time around and stick with the one character. Like many of you I spent a fair few coins doing the cheese, got some nice primary and secondaries as well as helmet, gloves and chest pieces. So many duplicates though, I even had 3x hunter chest pieces all the same. I'll use the dupes for infusion.

I had that many randoms on my friends list from LFG that I decided to cull my entire list and start again, with people who I know still play. Haven't tried the raid yet, was hoping to increase my light level more, so I feel a little more comfortable in not holding back a group.
Alright hutchy, I'll re-add you when i get home later tonight. I remember paying a good few times with you when i was sat at home after being made redundant and you were off with a bad back. I don't get half as much chance to get online these days though!

The Taken King is the third DLC I'm afraid, The Dark Below and House of Wolves were covered by the expansion pass.
