for selling yes. For buying its brilliant. Show me where else you can buy something second hand from a private seller and get a cast iron 6 months guarantee with it?

It's not that hard to use, especially if you use PayPal.

Never had a single problem with PayPal; I use it to buy pretty much everything online due to the added protection it provides.

It is good for buying, for selling low value items it's also pretty good (if you can be bothered with paypal and the fees) but if you want to sell anything of any value, my god it gets stressful,

Only really stressful when you get "that buyer".
After my 350+ transactions that were fine, I got "that buyer" as per the other thread.
I'm still angry over the fact I was at no point allowed to put my side of the story over, I'm out of pocket due to buyer stupidity (yer - he's just dumb) and right now he's had his refund and I still don't actually have my item back.

But as I say, 1 problem out of 350 transactions, so not a bad ratio and I've sold two mobile phones this way too.

I sold recently some things on ebay and it was not worth it. I put them up for £35 and £30. Ended up selling them for £30 and £25. £6 went to ebay, £4 went to paypal.

walked away after wanting £65 with £45.

Ebay used to be good like 15 years ago.

Now it's just a horrible horrible place to sell. They have a monopoly on the market and until someone else comes along it won't change.

You can get local pick up bargains though I usually message the person and can get it cash a bit cheaper. But im sure ebay will get wind of this practice soon and stop that too.

as a buyer, you can literally do anything

eBay takes the absolute **** when it comes to charges when selling. 10% cut of the FVF. 10% cut of postage costs (this is just robbery) and then you have the PayPal fee on top of that when most buyers have probably paid with a linked bank account (this is free) opportunistic thieving *******'s!!

Definitely go with Gumtree, you can just keep re-posting it for free until it sells at your inflated price. Did this with a Razer keyboard recently, sold to a Chinese kid in the end who wanted it for the specific click noise :S

I don't sell on eBay any more, i had that "one buyer" and since then i've not sold another item on there. Much prefer to sell on the MM.
