Is my phone locked? More complicated than you might think...

Hi,

I'm in the USA. I bought an iPhone 6S today on T-Mobile as these versions are, from what I can see online, unlocked.

I have put my sim card in (Three) and it works fine.

HOWEVER! As I am roaming on Three Feel at Home, the network it has attached me to happens to be T-Mobile. I can imagine there's a chance that a phone locked to T-Mobile may still work in this situation?

I'm now working a night shift and have no one around who has another micro sim to test it out on. Need to return the phone in the morning if it's no good - they said I can do this.

Ideas/thoughts?!

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure the phone will display the network it is roaming on when you're abroad, not the network the SIM is from.

Correct. I'm also in the US at the moment, and my phone displays AT&T because I forced it to use that network. I have a Three UK SIM.
It's showing the network providers who are currently available. Since Three don't operate natively in the US they have to use transmitter from other companies. When you return to the UK it will switch to the Three network as there will be available Three transmitters which it can use.
