Behind you... Naked!
On my Media Center, I am using Win 8.1 with Media Centre.

The icon has popped up a few weks ago, and so, I chucked win 10 onto it... Wohoo!

AH? Where is Media Centre? I knew I should have read that warning about it not being with Win 10 LOL

Anyway, 8.1 back on and the icon has appeared again, so how do I get rid?

I know me... Im a top notch plonker and I will no doubt install Windows 10 again, knowing full wel that I will have to go back to 8.1 yet again anyway... Im like that, I am a genuine idiot.

Yeah good call...

Thats the update that puts the icon on... I found that out only yesterday when I was trying to find out why Win10 will NOT install onto a mates Laptop.

Didnt think that removing it might do the opposite... In an idiot like that.

Thanks I will let you know how it goes.

The missus is watching holby for now though... Cow.

There's also a metric ton of other updates you have to remove to stop windows update from actually downloading the windows 10 upgrade.

Good point.

I found an article on How-To Geek regarding this and how to stop Windows 7/8.1 downloading the (3GB) installer files.

http://www.howtogeek.com/228551/how...-8-from-downloading-windows-10-automatically/

If you have a read through you'll find a section on recovering the space which will link you to the following article...

3GB not that much these days but if you're using an SSD or do have limited storage and can't/won't upgrade you might not want this junk on your machine.

Thanks for the heads up!

Its bad enough being forced to download that lot, but what if you have some cap on your internet?

I know that a few years ago, when I was with another provider, I had extended the house and built a LAN room for me and the kids, and I have half a dozen PCs ready setup in there for playing games etc online and just networked, and for 5 months on the trot, I went well over my monthly allowance each month for 5 months, and they tried to charge me over £700 claiming that their policy was something like a quid a gig over!

The thing is, that with half a dozen games, all playing online, or the kids watching YouTube, and the wife doing ebay and me doing por... Educational things, the bandwidth gets ripped to shreds. Now, with updates coming in every 2 minutes, and then yes, an almost 4GB update... I am sure that a basic Win 8.1 install asks for a good 1GB too, to get itself up to scratch come to think of it, its a killer.

Makes me laugh like hell when I see adverts for superfast internet and when you read the smallprint, you get a Max cap of something stupid like 25GB a month! - its close to useless unless all you are wanting is instant emails!

Im digressing arent I?

Stick 10 on and use KODI?

Well, I am toying with another MediaCentre and sure enough, I am twiddling with KODI on that... Its not looking too bad, except that so far, I have utterlty failed to actually watch a single thing from the freeview channels on it.

So, right now, I am not entirely impressed with it... I hope its PEBKAC but I have a sneaky that it may be my TV Cards... Like the typical tool that I am, I have just bought a handful more... I have splashed out on a semi-good one I hope... the rest are second hand jobbies.

I have a whole load of Digital TV cards now... I would have been better off right from the start just splashing out on a seriously good one instead of cheaply thinking that I could just go silly cheap and get a great one... They dont seem to exist.
