I'm currently looking at picking up a Mondeo, I've found a really nice looking one but as I know next to nothing about cars, I was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of. It's a Ford Mondeo 2.0 EcoBoost Titanium X Sport Powershift, 5dr, 2010 with 36k on the clock.

I'm leaning towards Titanium due to the higher spec but if it does have "known issues" then I am open to other suggestions.

You just need to make sure the box has been serviced properly really - Howard on here has one and should be able to help further.

It's also around then they increased the engine power iirc - worth checking when it happened as the facelifted car will be worth a little more down the line ( though if the price for this one is right it doesn't really matter)

Have you driven one? I like dsg style boxes but if you prefer traditional auto's it might not be for you

Not driven one, closest I've come to driving a Mondeo is sitting in my father-in-laws 65 plate :D

What's dsg ? Only driven an auto a few times and that was in the US so I've no idea if there is any similarity.

It's just a different way of going about things - these drive much more like a manual, but with automated, lightning quick changes.

They're great, just different to a traditional slushbox which is much smoother

Thanks.

I do have one!

It's a very nice gearbox and there are no real known reliability issues, but the gearbox does require an oil and filter change every 3 years or 37k miles at a cost of around £250, so the one you mentioned will be due one shortly so this is worth factoring in.

How much is it up for? The facelift model does offer a further 40bhp and a few cosmetic tweaks but they cost a fair bit more at the moment.

Great cars though and the TitX Sport is the flagship model so worth going for. I've posted loads of info and thoughts on mine in the thread linked in my signature below.

It's on at 9k, bit much maybe ? You're thread is a good read, very informative. Only issue with the car (which I also noticed in you're thread) is that it's located down south. Not an issues as I can drive but it is a long way to find out it's no good. Looks really well in the pictures I've seen though.

I find Mondeo prices tend to be very dependent on mileage more than anything. £9000 isn't too bad but mine had around 10k miles more but with far more kit (sat nav, adaptive cruise) and it cost £8400.

They aren't exactly common cars though so if you like the look of that one, it's worth checking out rather than waiting.
