Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

My father has just picked up a 3rd gen. Sadly he didn't wait for the 2gb version :(

In any case he cannot use it yet, as he is awaiting a smaller SIM.

It should be a decent upgrade to what he was using, and my parents will be all Motorola, with my mother already having the latest Moto E.

Trim the sim. I did it with mine and it works a treat. Use a stanley/scalpal blade and a cutting board. :)

It can be had from Clove for £160, but you're right, from Motorola a 50% increase is quite a jump.

Early impressions are it's probably similar or maybe even better value than the original. I wasn't impressed with 2 Gen, kept the original in fact, but 3rd gen will be taking over.

It is available for £150 on PAYG from Three, £139.99 + £10 top up and their phones come unlocked I believe.
Indeed, you could always order a Free sim from 3 and then when you get to a shop say you got a existing sim already and I don't think they will charge for the top up either.

Still even at that price it's not amazing value for money imo, I bought a Moto G 1st Gen for £139 when it first came out and that was for the 16gb version (I'm sure you could get it for £129), 8gb is unusable for a 'smartphone' imo, and also 1gb ram in this day and age for that price is a joke.
