Decathlon - shoddy experience!

Just thought I'd share my wonderful order experience with Decathlon as a method of venting!

I ordered a bike back at the start of September for next day delivery.

A couple of days late, the wrong bike turns up. It was a rather fetching ladies purple number but, nevertheless, the wrong bike.

I phoned Decathlon and explained what had happened. They agreed to send out the right bike and collect the old one. No problem - mistakes happen.

Another few days pass and a bike arrives. It's wrong again. This time I received a child's bike.

I phoned up to explain and didn't even get the most basic of apologies. On the back of that, I asked that the bikes be collected and I get a refund.

Stayed in all of last Saturday waiting for the bikes to be collected and they eventually were. Good stuff.

Today, a third bike turns up. I think you might guess where this is going but not only did I not expect a third bike (I asked for a refund) but it was wrong again! They'd managed to get the model right this time but in the wrong size.

Consider me not particularly impressed. They haven't been a huge help on the phone either so thought I'd just have an angry rant on OcUK to sooth the wounds!

Can anyone top that for the number of times a retailer has got their order wrong?

Only ever used them twice, once was for camping gas canisters which were fine, second time was for a mountain bike for my aunt which lasted about 30 minutes before the chain snapped and had to take it pretty far up the ladder to get a refund. Would not go near them again.

Sounds like a real PITA.

I ordered my MTB off them a few years ago and had zero problems.

The worst retailers I've dealt with online in recent memory were actually two of OcUK's competitors. One is the big orange one, the other is a company based in Manchester. They shall remain nameless.

The former flaunted distance selling regulations whilst with the other I eventually had to action a charge back on my credit card to get some money back!

What's sad is I had used the former for many years with no issues until that appalling experience and the latter I was a first-time buyer but they effectively treated me with contempt. I will never use either again.

Only tend to use them for cheap stuff but wow that is terrible. Surprised they can make a profit if they are just sending random bikes everywhere

Something odd going on there. I know a lot of people who've used them without any issues for their budget road bikes. Does always help if you can actually go to a store yourself though.

Got my Triban 5 from them, done many miles on it with no issues :S

That's great - but you had no contact with their CS if it went well, meaning you wouldn't have sampled their apparently lacking support levels.

Many people can buy from a retailer and it go well, but only takes one **** up for someone to make a lot of noise and hurt a brand. Not sure why you've used the confused face... :p

Woosh

Flouted and flaunted mean very different things. ....
