What FPS should a mid gamer get on BF4

After what seemed like an age installing the game on computer I gave the multiplayer a quick go(the layout being browser all very strange from console lol), but only for 5 minutes so no full battle..

With fraps on(don't know if recording is auto) and the game set to auto which in my case was medium with no AA I got as high as 77 and as low mid 50s maybe a quick dip to 49 for certain action/death

Now on ultra with AA on I got as high as 55 and low as mid(ish) 30s with a slight dip lower and a dip to 29 when I die..

My card is overclocked with msi afterburner ( well I assume I set the profile to Windows startup), but only something like 50mhz(off top of head) increase on both core and memory as the cards new, so I need to double check that next time....

But is the FPS about right?

Entirely depends on what parts your system has. And nobody can really give you a idea of what FPS you should be getting without knowing that info.

I have an r9 270x I average on ultra between 40-60fps, I never play on ultra I change it to low settings on BF4 average over 100fps,

I can get close to 200FPS on ultra...but that depends on what settings I have applied in the game options, and also your PC Hardware

thanks for replies... and sorry thought my system might have been remembered ha..

anyways its

i3 4160 @3.6ghz
1x8gb ddr3 corsair 1600mhz
gtx 750 1gb

at first it was windowed then i clicked full screen, but my monitor is Benq led DL2215 and the res max is 1920x1080, i do have a GL2250 with senseye whatever that is that was meant to be replacement, but needed it for the missus xbox at the moment..

i will probably either leave it or put it back to medium as other than FPS i cant really tell any graphical difference :)

I did get about that on one 270x, when I had two it used to be anywhere between 160-110. :)

On my 980 however, that is a different ballpark!

sounds about right, bf4 suffers from framerate dips at times. It gets a bit hectic sometimes as well which causes FPS drops on lower end machines. This then means you need lower settings so the drop doesn't ping you too far into unplayable, since it will inevitibly happen when you need to react quick!

Fun game though - stick with it :)

Thanks for response..

Going from what I said about graphics, I have decided to play in high settings as its between 40-60fps maybe slightly higher..

Only real thing I noticed was very very slight, but what I heard to be tearing? Might be just because of lag as my net is shocking at times more so when misses playing Xbox..

The joys of an old exchange because the council or bt didn't bother updating it in my village

Edit:

I'll tell you one thing that I've already mentioned, it's very strange an a little long winded going through origin to load it in browser then to have a pop up of the actual game when I join a session, unless I'm paying attention properly I alway think it's taking ages when it's already loaded ha

Indeed it is a bit slow having to go through Origin, but you get used to it. I forgot how long bf4 takes to load on a regular HDD - an SSD would significantly improve this (you'll be amongst the first in the server)

Not sure what to suggest to help with the visual tearing your getting, its not the internet but because of the disparity between your FPS and the screen refresh rate. You might be stuck with this and is another good reason to lower the settings. Try with vsync on and off as well to see which works better.

I wouldn't run any AA on that card, and medium/high textures, vsync on, motion blur off. DoF off. If you're playing online, I'd turn down anything that puts pressure on your CPU, such as draw distance, FoV and mesh quality. You'd get some gains from bumping up the memory clock on the card - you should get an easy +300 mhz on the memory, probably more.
