Nexus 5 2015 refresh

From the sounds of it, the 5X doesn't even have EIS like the 6P

Is the rear camera module found in Nexus 5X and 6P exactly the same? Will users get the exact same image quality when shooting from both phones?

DB> Yea, same sensor (IMX377) and F/2.0 optics. But 6P has more CPU/GPU horsepower so has a few additional features like 240fps slomo (vs 120fps on 5X), Smartburst, and EIS.

Why would it not have EIS? It will have the same camera app.

That probably refers to the video rather than photos. Doing 4k video and EIS may be a bit much for the 808.

Why it has no Wireless Charging
We added Qi wireless charging starting with N4 because plugging in USB micro B was such a hassle! (Which way is up!?) With this year’s Nexii, we support USB Type-C which has a reversible connector so there’s no more guessing. AND it charges incredibly swiftly: 1% to 100% in 97 mins on the 6P for example (the first ~45 mins of charging is especially fast). Meanwhile, wireless charging adds z (thickness). So, ease of plugging in + fast charging + optimizing for thinness made us double down on Type-C instead of wireless!

Hesitating too much on ordering the N5X.

Current phone is a Nexus 4 which I've had for nearly 3 years, it's served me well. But lately it's starting to play up, crashing and long charging time. Battery isn't great, and the camera is absolutely terrible, as is the speakers (even when plugging in an external speaker).

So, is the N5X worth the upgrade over the N4? I'd probably manage with the 16GB as I have with the N4, storage has never really been an issue. So £300 from CPW seems reasonable for my budget.

How do CW go about doing repairs? Send it off for a repair and leave you phone-less for weeks? How long is their warranty period?

Just trying to gauge if it is worth saving £30 by going to CW and then having the possibility of having to wait for repairs when I could just get a replacement from google in 1-2 days and a standard 2 year warranty or have I missed something about CW warranty?

Nexus 4 to Nexus 5X is a decent upgrade all-round. I think it's worth it. 5 to 5X is no where near as beneficial and that's the current bind I'm in.

It's 2 years from CPW but I'm not just whether they issue an instant replacement.

Similar situation here, also on an N4. I think it will be a decent upgrade but still looking at other options, gonna wait until its released and there are some reviews and stuff. If the camera performs as well as the 6P is supposed to then that's a big plus for me.

8MP to 12MP
Better low-light photos
Fingerprint scanner
Larger battery (2300 vs 2700)
FastCharging (thanks to USB-C)
Faster processor
Better gfx processor

Your shout, but I'd say its a worthwhile upgrade. You'll get £100 for your Nexus5, so the upgrade isn't exactly a bank breaker...

Wouldn't get £100 for the N4

Thanks sunbed, personally I would pay goodle the extra £30 to know that I'll get a replacement in a day or two if required during the warranty period.
I've been suffering with my nexus 5 failing to charge properly for the past few months even after swapping the battery and USB dock port so it is defo a worthwhile upgrade for me.

So I've done a little comparison table with the N5X v Moto X Play v OnePlus 2

The specs of the OP2 look very good, what's the drawback?

The drawback is that numbers on a spec sheet don't quantify user experience. On paper there are better deals than the 5X, in reality there aren't.

You need an invite to buy the OP2 apparently, Maybe people preferring the vanilla android experience? I know that's one of the main reasons I'm sticking with the Nexus.
Even though my nexus 5 2013 had a mediocre battery life and pretty poor camera, it is still by far the best phone I've owned.

5X is a huge upgrade over the 4. I have a 4 sat in it's box. My main phone is a Nexus 5. I've ordered a 6P to replace it. Well happy with the Nexus phones. Will be nice to get a decent camera though. The 5 takes a good photo but getting that photo is not easy.
