4k gaming what's best single card out there ?

Ah fair enough then.

I think playing Ultra with 2x-4x MSAA isn't too far in the future, extra MSAA is the killer though.

To run the top current games (GTA V, Watch Dogs, The Witcher 3 etc) on a single card maxed out @2160p you are going to have to wait for big Volta in 2018. Pascal next year won't be anywhere fast enough.

Waiting is a terrible option as you will never get to do anything.

Remember in 2018 when you can play todays top games maxed on big Volta there will be games around that will push the bar far higher.:)

I need to save, that's the main reason its next year as I don't buy things I want on a credit card just so I can have the latest kit, plus there's no rush as I'm happy with my PC at the moment

Don't get me wrong I want 4K, I just don't need it.

In regards to the OP he probably doesn't need it either, so my point is unless you have the spare cash burning a hole in your pocket and your happy with the performance of 4K that you'll get from the outlay give you then go for it, otherwise it would be wiser to buy next year when much more capable cards are out

The OP has probably asked the wrong question. "What is the best single card for XX resolution" will invariably give you an answer of whatever the most expensive card is right now.

Thing is, 295X2 and maybe even Titan Z are the answers here, but it's quite possible that saying single card he meant single GPU as he doesn't want to deal with Xfire/SLi. In which case the answer is Titan X.

However, who would buy a Titan X as a single card right now? The 980ti is way cheaper and barely any slower.

OP needs a more specific question. If he just wants a GPU, 980ti is probably a good shout. If he is after a GPU+4k Monitor, Fury X might be a better choice as Fury X + Freesync 4k monitor is much cheaper than 980ti + GSync 4k monitor, while not far behind in performance.

Or if it's some SFF build with a motherboard that can only take a single card, maybe 295X2 is better as he is happy to put up with multi card limitations.

Or if he's a lottery winner that doesn't care about cost and just wants the best, perhaps Titan X was the right answer.

That's fine I can't justify £1500 on a monitor and graphics card to barely make use of the monitor I'm not an early adopter for that reason, I'll get a new gpu and 4k screen next year when the gpus have the grunt for a steady 60 plus fps in 4k until then I'm staying at 1080p, ultra settings and 8x aa at over 60fps

My 980TI and Samsung 4k cost just over £1000.

Not far off a Titan X ? :)

cheers all theres some good debate on here :) i have sold my 4k now and have decided to go 2k instead :) cant pay £500 for a card and 6-12 months later worth 100 sheets lol be there done that years ago

:D
