So here is my little story so some advice please. I the following spec:

MSI GT70 Gaming Laptop 17.3" LED Full HD Intel I7 Gen3 CPU, 12GB DDR3, Dual 750GB HDD, Bluray Writer, NVIDIA GTX 670M 3GB GDDR5 Graphics, Win7 Home Premium 64-Bit - Black

Well sadly the laptop died and when I mean died I took it to a shop as ther warrenty ran out as I purchased it 20 Mar, 13 so dam 2 years later bang.

Anyway took it to have a repair to find the motherboard has overheated and died and cost wise its too expensive to repair (over £400 ouch!). So I asked if they could recover the data off the hard drives which contain all my photos of my little boy who we adopted last December. Sadly no one can help and the local laptop repair firm said the drives wont initialize! ouch...... Any ideas anyone? Really don't want to lose all the photos if I can help it (annoyingly I unloaded them onto laptop and was going to back it up that week to our mini back up server). The laptop had two 750GB drives in RAD 0 format so wasn't sure if that was part of it.

Any tips? most welcome. Gutted it didn't last longer as now on the look for a new decent gaming laptop too!

You will be covered under the sale of goods act for a repair or replacement with your retailer if you wanted to go down that route.

As for recovering from a raid array that has failed it could be complicated. It's never a good idea to keep important info on raid drives. Tbh I'm not sure how you could go about reading them and if the repair shop have tried initialising them it might be to late....
