**** The Official Google Nexus 6P Thread ****

Qualcomm does not have the 6P listed as compatible with QC2.0.. Gyessvyhat answers my question then and confirms that onlythe stock charger will fast charge it, with everything else delivering slow charge rates.

No official car charger listed anywhere either so no fast charging when travelling and notability to fast charge when out and avout as there is no portable bank that does the same.

My kind of regular use means sometimes charging over night simply isn't enough, hence why the Xperia works so well for my needs, and even though the Z3 doesn't have fast charge, it has the battery life to compensate.

It's not like regular 10watt charging is dire slow.

And we have yet to know how good the 6P battery life is. Like you said yourself... You can always return it.

True, but so far it's the only thing bumming me out. I was really looking forward to standardised fast charging in my next phone.

Also, the faster you charge a battery, the less cycles you get out of them typically. It's very true with LiPo/LiIon tech.

Not really, Qualcomm's own FAQ states that battery life isn't shortened from fast charging as the battery and ICs are designed with fast charging in mind, and thus the charging rate is "within spec". It's once you charge above spec with higher rates where the life degrades beyond the average MTBF.

Fast and wireless charging is overrated imo

Personally I only charge over night and every other day (if the phone has epic battery )

Never have I had to make use of the fast charger as I need more juice in a few mins

I guess good for those who will annihilate the huge 6p battery though lol!

Have you used wireless or fast charging? IME, people who say they're overrated haven't actually used either.

Wireless charging is more important to me than fast charging, however.

Yes I have and yes for me it's overrated. But that's just me.

Albeit only used the 1A wireless chargers and they are slow and heat up the phone unnecessarily

I would not Personally discount buying a phone if the only thing it didn't have was wireless/fast charging.

In the other hand, both would be really useful for me! I could see a fast 40pc boost on my battery being of benefit several times a week and I'd find it handy to plop my phone down on a wireless charge pad at both work and in the living room at home.

I still don't really fancy the 6p though with its ugly bulge.

How is charging to a whole day's worth of usage in under 45 minutes "overrated" vs spending double teh time charging to the same rate on standard charge? Riddle me this :p

Or 7 hrs use from a 10min charge for that matter!

I use my wireless charger to keep my phone topped up at my desk.
I think it's great. I pick it up, sit it back down regularly without having to unplug it and plug it back in.
If I'm charging the phone back up then I'll always plug it in as it's faster.

Well the faster you charge a battery the more strain you put on it but it's all relative. Normal charging won't be at 1 C so fast charging won't be too bad. If every charge cycle is done via a fast charge then I really think batteries won't last as long.

The 6P has a dedicated audio DSP as the guy mentioned it on the keynote, we don't know what brand though, a teardown will reveal that I guess.

Qualcomm say otherwise, so I'd be more inclined to trust their say so on this matter :p
