10 dead in a US college shooting

They also save lives in home invasion situations, car-jackings, rape, robbery. But that for the most part gets ignored. People are killed by cars, knives, alcohol etc but guns get most of the bad focus.

Have you seen the statistics? You're something like 90% more likely to harm yourself or someone you care about accidentally than a person being violent towards you

Maybe investment in bullet proof vests and helmets for all students.

Seriously how can anyone argue against firearm legislation, seriously how ****ing retarded do you have to be to think that a couple of fat ****s with rifles is ever going to stop a tyrannical government.

I've heard of that, but never seen it backed up though. Even if true, it's an issue of responsibility and training.

How many more shootings must there be before they ban guns? This is getting silly now.

You can't just ban something that has been a part of a nations culture for hundreds of years and of which the right to own has significant support amongst a sizeable proportion of the public and legislators. That's the problem they face and thats why it's a complex issue that remains unsolved.

gun owners are fully prepared to sacrifice children to mass shootings so they can keep their guns in case the queen invades again

Lol whut? You mean drawing a conclusion based on the facts of Sandyhook? I thought that it was proven to be fake (eg picture of kid killed was also on a mural wall in a suicide bombing at a school in Pakistan as an example)

rip at this time

Um...nope...try again

A number of explanations might apply to this puzzling photograph. The first is that an image of Pozner was mistakenly included in the vigil by someone who turned up his picture while performing an online search using a term such as "December school massacre" to find photos of those killed in Peshawar and and did not recognize his face (because he had dark hair and facial features not unlike those of many of the victims in Peshawar). Another is that his image was deliberately included by mourners as an homage in order to publicly link multiple incidents of young, innocent victims' losing their lives in senseless school shootings. A third is that a massive worldwide cabal colluded to perpetrate or falsify the murders of more than 150 students and teachers collectively spanning the globe from Connecticut to Pakistan, and the puppeteers of this conspiracy were so inept that they failed the basic task of obtaining novel images to assign to each of the victims of the violent acts.

In fact, the second explanation offered above appears to be what happened: On the day of the Peshawar incident a Pakistani woman created a collage of photographs of young people killed in school shootings and posted it to Facebook with the caption "They Went to School and Never Came Back." Because the Peshawar shooting occurred very close to the anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre, she included a picture of a child from the latter event, namely Noah Pozner, along with pictures of Peshawar victims

Imagine someone just turning up and going "your $5,000+ worth of guns are now illegal we are going to destroy them".

So a country that can(along with German help) put a man on the ****ing moon cant figure it out that firearms need severely restricting to the general public?

I think I understand why you made that comment...because that's what OcUK typically says when someone blows up a market place in Baghdad.

However it's not on there and it's not really on here either, is it.
I think you have misunderstood the satire. Or maybe what the purpose of satire is.

I'm sure it's figured that out. The difficult part is how do you do it, and how do you get the agreement you need from everyone you need to get it from to make it law? That's the difficult part.

Firearms are, rightly or wrongly, of significant cultural significance in the USA. This makes it very complex to suddenly restrict them in the way that, say, the UK was far more easily able to do.

There's also the point that the only people left with guns (outside the police) would be the people who shouldn't have them regardless. The people who don't own them legally now, the low-life criminals and gangs, the people that you go and buy a gun legally and train for to protect yourself from.

It's more complex and controversial than people think.

That happened here for semi-automatic rifles after Hungerford and pistols after Dunblane.

That's why imo its so strange. Guns now are only available to criminals or people who pay ludicrous gun membership fees in the UK. All because of a few complete and utter scumbags. Some people (myself included) enjoy shooting as a sport and hobby but that was ruined a long time ago now. Sure you can shoot clays and at the gun clubs but its severely restricted and expensive.
