UK Lotto now only 1 week tickets

I read somewhere that the change was designed to ensure more rollovers as that is what attracts the occasional players to buy a ticket - so overall increasing the take.

The base of people who always buy a ticket every week has steadily declined, the growth they see is only when the big numbers come up as prizes.

yup... that is when I tend to play... usually the euro millions when the jackpot is circa 100 million or so

I work in a supermarket and sell lottery and sales definitely fell when they raised the price to £2. More people play the Health Lottery than before.

I only ever do the odd Thunderball draw and have never bought a Lotto since it went to £2.

There are easier ways to win money, although not life changing amounts.

I would stay anonymous if I won. I'd be like one of those silent wish granters. I'd love to do that :) I'd find someone who was down on their luck and post em ten grand with a little letter. Can you imagine their face
A lot of the winners who end up shouting about it end up miserable apparently.
It frightens some people coz they can't cope with the change. Blows their world apart!

I would be happy as a pig in muck :D

~2x harder to win 3 numbers
~2x harder to win 4 numbers
~3x harder to win the other larger prizes

That's not quite true because the new 2 number prize of a new ticket makes the odds of winning a prize with one purchase different. So you could buy a ticket, get 2 numbers and a free ticket then get 3 numbers on that one but you still only paid £2.

So the odds of getting the jackpot from one purchase is now around 1 in 40 million

didn't someone on here win BIG on the lottery only to be found out that he had made the whole thing up?
