Has anyone sold their Volkswagens?

I don't think a whole lot will happen with cars already registered. A tax hike or VW having to compensate owners is the most likely thing.

Bad time to sell though since the prediction is the used prices will drop for a while.

Ditched my 2009 Golf 1.6TDi Bluemotion today. Was going to get rid of it anyway but felt I had to quickly after all this. To be honest, it has been crap on economy, far lower than my previous 2007 Golf 2.0 Diesel GT Sport and that was so much more fun to drive. I reckon 20% less fuel economy which is a joke.

Going back to Petrol, got a new Honda Civic Sport turning up on Monday.

Sold my A6 3.0 TDI but it isn't included in the list of engines affected. I sold it to downsize and go back to petrol as I don't do the miles now.

Andi.

Well why would they? So far the only confirmed incidence of cheating was to circumvent US testing.

I'm not saying people have, I was curious to if they have or not.

I wouldn't, but I know some people are funny... reason to change, moral high ground, etc, etc.

Exactly! But in all seriousness, what difference will selling really make to me? If we all panic sell then we'll artificially deflate the prices.

That^. :p

Not really sure why anyone would though. If you're that bothered about the emissions, you'd be using public transport.

Actually i'd walk or cycle.

Anyway, I can't say I really care. It's not changed my opinion of VW or any associated brand in any way.

Who in their right mind would buy a VW at the moment (diesel that is).

Why wouldn't you?

I find owners comments about these vehicles rather stupid and ill informed. There was a guy on TV yesterday saying he was concerned that he had paid for a product which promised a level of performance and now he was unsure if he was getting said performance.

This isn't the issue. VW have tuned the vehicles to deliver performance. However in doing so they don't meet emission standards in certain countries. When being tested the vehicles performance is dropped in order to pass the test.

When the owner takes his vehicle from the testing station the cars computer recognises this and full performance is restored at the expense of emissions. Why can't people read and absorb information?

I didn't buy my Audi diesel for it's green credentials, I bought it because it does loads to the gallon, goes like stink and is better built than most other vehicles at this price point. I don't give a rats arse about the emissions.

I would buy another tomorrow - which would be my sixth. :D
