England and Wales smokers, beware!

In that case then get a Gas safe installer to do a smoke test up your chimney, because it clearly hasn't got a proper draw on it.

It clearly does work fine but chimneys aren't perfect. I'll ask one more time. You're refuting the findings of the peer reviewed and scientifically accepted research. Are you a scientist? Do you have any proven evidence?

If not shut up and go away because simply put you're wrong. And they've proven you wrong.

Who the hell do you think you are to tell me to "shut up" ? I don't need to be a scientist just to have a view or opinion.........................................it's what forums are for.....................................discussion, views and opinions. Mine is just as vallied as yours or anyone else's.

And yes, i am.....................................as i'm entitled to do. Any idiot knows that if you drive a car with a window wound all the way down it creates a reverse pressure inside the car and therefore dosn't let much out of the car, including smoke. Wind it down a few inches and the air rushing across the opening creates a large draw and sucks the air from inside the car.
If you could actually be bothered to read the "the peer reviewed and scientifically accepted research", it was done with the car drivers window wound all the way down.

You're entitled to your opinion. I'm entitled to tell you it's crap. I have read the paper, glad you've done it now.
I'll look forward to you publishing you retort to them then?

I didn't read it now...............................i read it months ago. And i said then the tests were done in a manner to sway the results.........................................but hay ho...................it's law now, lets not let fact get in the way of political correctness.

So why didn't you correct it then? Also...from your logic why don't we drive in a vacuum with the windows down slightly

My argument is that smoking kicks out FAR less pollution and is FAR less of a worry than all the other stuff....
I think I pretty much agreed with that didn't I? And just stated that it takes longer to fix.

If your biggest concern is me kicking out large clouds of 'mostly harmless', sweet-smelling vapour and setting off the occasional old-fashioned smoke alarm, then your life is pretty good....
Yep, sounds like facetiousness to me.

Then one really has to question the methods of the testing. I'm a 57 year old smoker and have been since the age of 16. I've been driving since the age of 17. If i open the drivers window about 100mm and light a cig, ALL the smoke goes straight out the window. It always has in any car i've owned and still does in my current car. If i open the window all the way down, most of it stays in the car. I'm 100% that the testers were looking for the result they wanted.........................................and just like me, knew exactly how to get that result...................................................open the window all the way down. Totally predictable and completely what they wanted to see. In fact no different from lighting a fire in a fireplace when there is no draw up the chimney......................................then just opening a window, result= a room full of smoke. Create a small draw up the chimney, result= warm room and no bloody smoke..........................................not rocket science and has been practiced by all forms of humans for thousands of years.

Your cute anecdotal evidence aside, we might take you a bit more seriously if you had evidence to show how much smoke was left in the car after opening the window "about 100mm". You know, under laboratory test conditions where you can replicate that routinely. The studies may have used ideal conditions, but at least they were scientifically sound.

Rather than just sounding like an enraged smoker.

The general feeling is that people seem to be looking to prove/disprove that vaping actually enhances health, rather than just not making it worse.

So of all the various horrific things happening around the world, my vaping is really your biggest complaint? Nothing else bad is happening to you or any of those you care about?
Lucky you.... [puff puff puff]

I am making some vague attempt to avoid being DEADLY SERIOUS and avoid the massive over-reactions that so many are having, given how us vapers are 'smoking' (except that there's no combustion involved) so many utterly untested (except over many decades by the many different industries that already use them), deadly (which they must be because we don't know anything (except all the things we do know) about them) chemicals so therefore are killing all the kids and are in fact worse than smokers (cor, remember when people used to smoke?) because we don't know we're doing it (and yet every single non-smoker was pretty much born with that same knowledge)...

In short a bunch of very scientific people, who know FAR more than anyone on this board (and who don't work for the tobacco companies), have all said vaping is pretty much safe.
So until they say otherwise, I'm gonna vape!

If you wanna claim that as facetiousness, then go ahead. Not a banhammer offense or anything, is it!

You lost me a while ago. I haven't mentioned vaping once.

I'm also not quite sure how I've made you think my biggest worry is you smoking (ok vaping but I didn't even know you vaped).

Kitfit is correct. Smokes goes out the window and second hand smoke is not an issue. Unless the room is hotboxed and the person is trying purposefully to inhale the smoke, the risk is non existent.

There is a whole website dedicated to peer reviewed fraud. It happens all the time, peer review should be renamed to scientific circle jerk.

Dunno. I haven't bothered reviewing the whole thread. Something about pollution and what is neccesary, I think...

But hey - Smoking, vaping, what's the difference, right?
