I have recently discovered the joys of having my hair cut at home by a mobile hairdresser, meaning I don't have to leave the basement or speak to people. This plays to my lack of interest in answering questions about my holiday arrangements or for hearing someone else's idea of music people can't fall out with.

Where do you get your haircut and what does it say about you?

Are you all man, preferring to clipper your hair like a marine or an Australian sheep? Do you like to go for a head massage and enjoy soothing chit chat while getting rinsed for £70. Do you have a £3 hair cut by the same bloke who gave your grandad his first short back and sides?

In the shower every morning with a 99p for 10 BiC. What does it say about me? It says I'm bald and don't give a ****. :D:cool:

£20 inc tip at this Turkish fella's place called Jeff in Borough. Not your sterotypical space, you walk in and it looks proper classy. Owner offers you a drink, get your hair washed before and after and they burn your ears to get fluff out which is weird but great. Can talk if you want or just sit in silence.

Been going to a barbers for years and get a fairly OK cut for £12, recently went to a salon owned by Matthew Curtis and got a much better cut and paid £24.

I'd happily pay that going forward now to get a better cut and actually have some input from the man cutting my hair about possible new styles to try.

£15 nearly 20 years ago for a pair of clippers that look like they are going to last longer than my hair...

What's with the thread title? Aren't they both the same?

Anyway, I get mine cut at hairdressers probably around 30 minutes walk from my house. Costs £8 and go back everything 5 weeks. We seem to get along nicely.

£8 at the Barbers normally ~4x a year for the last ~10 years.

The chap I normally go move his shop a couple of years ago so it's a couple of miles stroll to go there now. I think he's retiring next autumn so I'll have to find somewhere else then.

I used to go the barbers and pay about a fiver, then a hairdresser moved in next door to the barbers and bought them out. They started changing it and putting the prices up, then they closed the barbers and I had to go in to the hairdressers at £9 a go!

When it got to that point I bought some clippers and do my own now.

I go to a nice proper old fashioned barbershop in Newcastle, slightly bordering hipster yet still cool and undiscovered. They can shave you with the blade, all know how to handle beards and there's even a fellow in every couple of days who can shine your shoes. £10 is a few quid over the market but I also get the beard trimmed and shaped so £11.50 for moi :D

I think to most people they are differentiated.

Saved the price of a haircut and bought a set of clippers, do it myself every 3-4 weeks, grade 2.

I'd like to go down to a grade 1/unguarded clipper, but the Mrs doesn't like it that short.

Last time I went to a barbers it cost me about £9 which I thought was monstrous, although the young girl who cut my hair said "You're quite cool for an old guy", I was 40! :/

£9 every 6 weeks, they're open til 7 so I stop in on the way home from work. Saves having to find time at the weekends to get it done :)
