Question for diabetics - Moderating sugar intake

Not only that, if it's "juiced" then you lose all the fibre that would have been in the orange, meaning that as soon as it hits your stomach it gets converted to glucose pretty much straight away.

A small glass of fruit juice is not bad for you. You both make it sound like the only thing in fruit juice is sugar, forgetting one of the most important reasons that fruit and veg is good for you - the vitamins and minerals.

As long as you get proper fresh 100% squeezed/pressed juice and don't drink litres of it every day, it's pretty good for you.

I didn't say it was bad for you, the question in the OP is specific about Diabetes and moderating sugar intake, in which case it's useful to know about the issues of eating too much fruit and drinking too much fruit juice :) Fruit juices with pulp still in them are better than smooth juices.

You didn't as such but the other guy did

"Even natural fruit juice is bad for you"

If it's type 2 you're talking about, keeping your weight down to a healthy level will be best. There's little you can do to avoid age related Diabetes though. Eat sensibly, keep your weight at a healthy level and you should be fine.

You dad''s pneumonia was nothing to do with diabetes. Fact.

If you have no other family members with diabetes then it was more likely due to his lifestyle choices. 50% of T2DM end up on insulin as that is the nature of the beast.

With regards to you question I would suggest ordering a diabetes diet guide from diabetes UK it's free of charge.

Low carb high fat diet is proven to reverse type 2

no its not.

I'll even give you 100% benefit of the doubt that in one case someone changed their diet and it was some how impossibly proved that the diet change alone fixed things.

still doesn't mean its proven to reverse type 2, there is a vast gulf between 1 case and proven cure.

Weight loss can substantially reduce insulin resistance. Diet modification is a significant part of early T2 treatment.

Last night I was on stage, half way through touch Too much by AC/DC and I went down like a sack of poo :(
The band obviously stopped and several people from the audience helped out and about 15 minutes later after a drink of sugary coke and a Mars Bar I was ready to finish the gig.
Today I feel awful and I'm suddenly realising I need to keep my appointments.

I daw your other thread and did giggle when the Google street view link is pointing at the oatcake shop in Longton High Street.

On a serious note, the Mother told me a horror story the other week, where my Dad had such low blood sugar he could not move and was just making silly noises late in the night. He could not move at all. At the time he often worked away in Scotland and if this had happened whilst he was there, he would probably be dead by now. He says the reason he had low sugar was he was so tired from driving down to Staffordshire from Irvine and made a mistake when calculating how much insulin to give himself. Little mistakes with diabetes can end up fatal :(.

Or he had too much insulin/missed a meal. No offence dude but your dad should really go see the GP as it's clear he lacks any understanding of the disease and management
