Why won't my car sell?

I've made some of those changes, agnes. I'm leaving the price as it is for now, I've had a shedload more views so I think it's actually getting attention now. I've got this guy coming to see it on Wednesday anyway who pretty much said on the phone that he'd take it off my hands, but we'll see what happens there.

The MOT coming up twice...the way the ad works is terrible. You fill out some details, and then write your paragraph, and then it adds it all together and doesn't let you see what you've done until you've published it. Really confusing. I won't get it MOTd again, though. Twice in a year is a bit much hah. It wouldn't fail.

We'll see what happens. I've got 2 weeks to sell it.

Fair enough, well I'll see how it goes for the next few days and then if this guy doesn't buy it i'll strongly consider getting the MOT done. It's always sailed through to be fair!

The problem I always find is that the places that are £25/£35 will ALWAYS find something ****** wrong with it that's entirely irrelevant, or nowhere near as bad as they make out, and I'm not mechanic so I'm not really in a position to argue with them unless it's very obvious what the issue is.

The ad is much better now, the photos could be better but otherwise its fine.

As for the price - the car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If someone is willing to shell out 2 grand for it then thats what it's worth. The rarity factor of being an auto doesnt really add to the value, rather it probably limits the potential buyers.

If you're looking for a cheap runaround for sub 2k and also want/need an auto then the fact is there are better cars out there for the money. The closest you can get to an actual offer is webuyanycar who say £660 on the website which means you'd probably get 500 quid out of them. Doubling that seems pretty decent for a second hand sale.

If you want to wait for the buyer who really wants an automatic last-last-last gen A3 diesel then you may get your 1500 quid but you're not appealing to someone who wants the best car for sub 2k they can find - doing so would let you sell it quickly

Problem is with the pricing, everyone knows that you're overpricing it and I really don't want to sell it for anything less. If the only offer I had was for a grand, I'd keep it.

Just had another call, so the changes are working I think :) thanks guys, always very much appreciated.

Not much use if its offered against an overpriced car is it?

don't buy the overpriced car then :)

Seriously Fox, I know your opinions on this and you can't bear to take the hit. Personally, can't stand the aggro from tyre kickers and time wasters at this end of the market and I'd part ex every time.

If it were worth a lot more money, I'd strongly consider part ex. I don't mind dealing with buyers but it would be easier for someone just to take it off my hands. But I couldn't make up the difference in price, so decided not to go part ex.

Then he wont be getting £900 part ex if the replacement isn't overpriced
