What's likely to happen?

So should I just take the hit or appeal?

Appeal.

You were driving along normally when your medical condition began to flare up so you safely pulled over to take your medication then after recovering continued on. You saw the traffic warden at the scene and explained the situation to him but he was quite rude.

They will cancel the ticket faster than you can say "wedontwantthepressgettingwindofthis".

'Many thanks for your appeal. We will check this declared medical condition with the DVLA and expect to cancel your ticket once we receive confirmation'

Whoops...

Please don't drive if you are at risk of fainting behind the wheel. One day it will kill you, and maybe even take others with you.

Well yeah it does assume his condition is declared but why wouldn't it be? :S

If they wont cancel the fine OP should just go to the press and that should shame them into cancelling it, especially when they run the story of how a traffic warded saw somebody slumped over the wheel of a parked car struggling to take medication and immediately began writing out a ticket instead of trying to help or call assistance lol.

Yet he deemed himself fit to carry on driving? The OP shouldn't have been driving in that state and to be so bad as having to stop on zig zags that are not exactly a long stretch of road reinforces that.

Or you could spin it the other way and say irresponsible driver gets in car and drives off despite collapsing minutes earlier, knowing full well he had a medical condition, and stops in a dangerous position. And the OP wasn't "slumped over his steering wheel" he "had his head in his hands".

Or....we could not try to go all Daily Mail on this and think sensibly? How about that eh?!

OP realistically, regardless of what occurred previous to the traffic warden approaching you, if you do get a parking ticket, I'm sure you have a reasonable excuse as to why the ticket should be cancelled.

*the previous day.

Whether you all think the OP should be driving at all is a political issue, if you want to change that you can write to your MP etc. You're quite entitled to lobby such people directly too, but it doesn't help answer the question of what might happen about a potential parking charge, you're off topic.

Oh right, fair enough - misread that.

If the OP genuinely felt like he was OK prior to the journey, then there is nothing to answer there. Yes, this is beside the parking issue, but this is OcUK and we discuss everything :p

Making the bold assumption that Dimple has diabetes; unless it's treated with insulin there's no need to inform the DVLA: https://www.gov.uk/diabetes-driving

This is one of the worst informed parking threads we've had.

Here's some more prior art: http://blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2012/08/13/parking-ticket-appeal-upheld-without-a-fight/

If he is experiencing a diabetic hypoglycaemic episode (which he has described) then he is (or should be on insulin). This is notifiable to the DVLA.

Even worse - one of the local Evo guys (who was diabetic) died after being at a friends house and "not feeling right".

He left despite being told not to, and drove his van straight on at a turn on a single carriageway - went into a tree and died. It was assumed he passed out at the wheel.

He was a lovely guy - don't risk ending up like him.

Was his last name Mason?

I'm good friends with his son. Tragic accident.

Don't need to be on insulin to have hypoglycaemia. The guidance by the DVLA isnt actually very good as being on a sulphonylurea isn't notifiable but will make you prone to hypos as its a very common side effect.

I would recommend popping along to see your GP or diabetic nurse and hopefully you won't get anything in the post and refrain from driving in the meantime.

Nice to see some of you diagnosing my medical condition and making it look like one minute I'm standing there singing and within a split second I've fainted - I can guarantee it doesn't happen like that. For a good 10 minutes I was telling the band I wasn't too well and also got my wife to get me a real coke ready because I was pushing myself on stage.
I did feel a bit off which was about 15 hours after the previous night so I thought I'd pull over to be on the safe side while topping up with a couple of glucose sweets.
Some of you make very good points but you're making out I'm there 1 second and gone the next which is absolutely not how it happens so I'd be happy if you didn't make assumptions.
If I was as bad as some of you think I am then you should all be concerned that I'm cycling 7 days a week but then again it would be one more off the road :D

Anyway, I rang the Council this morning to lodge a complaint about the attitude of the Officer and how he put a ticket before the health of a member of the public when all he had to do was knock on the window.
I asked if that is how they are trained and if I hadn't raised my head would he have just put a ticket on my window and walked off?
The Council worker admitted that 'If that's what happened' then it isn't how they train their Officers and it needs looking into.
I was asked to put everything in an email and send it to a certain address.

I obviously made the wrong assumption that you felt like you had to stop right there and then hence why you stopped illegally. If it is a gradual thing then I'd have assumed you'd have carried on for a bit to stop where there wouldn't be an issue.

If it wasn't an urgent thing (As in most stop right this second or I will pass out) then...

... why not stop a further 4 foot down the road and not on zigzag crossing markings?

You are making the assumption that I know Zig Zag markings are the anti-christ when it comes to where I can stop.
Follow that road from my link (especially down under the bridge and you'll see there are bus lanes and yellow lines for quite a distance and as far as I know they are all wrong places to stop at.
Since the place is a ghost town I pulled over.
I really don't know why you are questioning it so please give over because I'd already gone a further 4 foot for about 5 miles.
