Forum "Disputes"

Yeah the overly harsh MM rules need looking at, plus I think the mods there haven't ever heard of being consistent.

P.s you should make the mods forum public so you can prove its not longer full of race hate :p

What's brought this on?

Having a post moderated or being suspended or banned shouldn't be an issue for people, suck it up and move on to either another subject or another forum.

Honestly, how many moderators ever admit to getting something wrong and removing a suspension?

Several in my time.

There needs to be a clear set of rules; that each moderator abides.

There are.

When a user is suspended; it would be nice to have the option to enter in to a discussion with the moderator that took action, and their reasoning explained (including which rules were broken) and where this happened. So you could click a button on the suspension screen, to create a post in this 'sub forum', that should be open to all members, where the post which got the user suspended was quoted and the user would be able to explain themselves and the moderator could explain themselves.

This will be enabled in due course.

It should be open to members, if there is a case where a moderator has gotten it wrong, having third parties to help out (including other moderators) would be a benefit in my opinion. Where as now, there is no transparency, if you question moderators it is done in private, they do not have to explain themselves and more often then not will not remove suspensions or admit to mistakes.

One thing at a time.

I think it creates tension, where there really should be none.

It might or might not. Let's see how it goes.

Thanks for your positive suggestions however.

MM rules are there to protect buyers and sellers alike. The rules are necessary to avoid abuse or people getting ripped off.

As for the last point I have to say that I find that offensive. If you can't get over that times have changed then please feel free to leave. I find it actually quite rude. If you're joking then it isn't really funny.

'more open' in a private sub forum?

It is a first step. Let it go.

What's brought this on?

The list is endless. I happen to agree with you but let's try this out. If it doesn't work we'll just can it.

Wow! touchy. The poky out tongue shows it's meant as a joke. not a good one I grant you, but not really worth the public admonishment it got.

I don't know why you are pandering to the vocal minority who have an inflated sense of their own importance on these forums...

If people don't like the rules or how the place is moderated then they can post somewhere else. Not difficult to understand really!

I've had many a sleepless night about the infraction I received for alluding to a well known meme. :mad:

The mod didn't know his memes and probably isn't even a real Admiral either.:mad:

Maybe I should file a strongly worded complaint.

A certain Admiral seems to misunderstand things on purpose.

:o, that changed!

Surely you see it though? 'We want to be more transparent' 'Things will be discussed in private'.

No I don't. We are giving people the chance to go into dialogue with the mod team to disucss their posts within the forums so that if emai doesn't work there is at least a record. It means all mods and admins can see the interactions. In due course if we feel it is the right step we may make the discussion public.

Again. One thing at a time.

I agree with what Doofer said;

I've had numerous infractions and suspensions with the the reason being "other rule break" with no reference to any actual rule.

When I've tried to contact a moderator about certain issues, they either get dismissed as having been a rule break despite there being no rule, or I get ignored.

Whilst I think this is a good idea, I honestly can't see much changing whilst certain moderators are still here as moderators.

One in particular has another forum where he encourages the sort of behaviour he's otherwise supposed to discourage, along with a load of members whose actions get ignored by the very same moderator on these forums.

I actually agree that if you're Banned/Suspended/Censored for breaking the 'RULES' you should MTFU and accept responsibility for your actions. I have absolutely no issues there whatsoever.

What I have issues with is when the 'RULES' become arbitrary and what basically amounts to the 'Whim' of a Moderator. Now I know the Mods will argue until they are blue in the face that this does not happen. It does. And it causes unnecessary friction which could easily be avoided.

So I welcome this new approach, it can't be any worse than simply not knowing why/what/where/how you got disciplined when you genuinely have not broken any Forum Rules, even if it not fully open and transparent as I would probably like it to be. :)

Well this means that if you want to look at it from a really officious point of view there will be no hiding from lost emails now.

We're trying to help honestly not trying to make it harder.

Having been a victim in the past I think this is a good thing because no **** responded to any of my queries.

At least this gives you a place to query things, who cares if others can't see it?

Several in my time.

Unfortunately not every moderator does.

For example, I genuinely received an infraction for saying the following;

You can't get your email from trust, they have to be trust messages, trust doesn't give out email address, that's down to you by replying to the emails.

This was labelled as bullying behaviour for some bizarre reason.

I also got suspended for this;

My comment was "You spelt "disappointing" wrong." as a joke to another member complaining that Richersound's behaviour was "disgusting" after a manager changed his mind on an offer.

When I argued the case that I wasn't literally correcting his spelling, I got suspended.

I get ignored when I try to bring up these issues I've had with Huddy.

spoffle, isn't the whole idea of this new forum a place to allow you to question/moan about the very things you're mentioning? Presumably all the mods will be able to see the posts so you'll get people stepping in when required.
