I want to drive two 2560x1440 displays from one card & from what I've read you need to use DisplayPort for that sort of resolution.

The main use will be image editing with a occasional game of CS:Source ;)

Is there anything available for £100 ? (not interested in 2nd hand)

Thanks for any help :)

*I'd like to stick with AMD to avoid any hassle with drivers, existing card is a HD5850

Ah, so I just need to get one of the newer cards that supports DisplayPort 1.2 MST & a Hub.

**** the Hubs cost £70 , looks like I'm still on the search for a dual port card

As has been said, DP is not a requirement for this.

nVidia can do 4k over HDMI, both nVidia and AMD can do 1440p or 1600p over DVI.

What monitors are you buying?

I'm not sure why you think you will avoid driver issues by going AMD...

amd runs 4k over hdmi even if its only 30hz

he wants a gpu for 150$ so i dont think he will be gaming on them use ur brain pls

Even for windows use I wouldn't recommend anyone do 4k@30hz. Just the mouse lag is awful.

That's not a dig at AMD - AMD cards work fine at 4k60hz over DP.

Fair point that AMD can run 4k at 30Hz over HDMI, I should have worded my post better - as could you.

Also, you tell me I'm not using my brain by concluding he's not going to be gaming on a £100 GPU and a 4K panel. May I suggest you use your eyes and see he mentions wanting to do gaming in his opening post? :D

Anyway, we're straying from the point - OP wants to power two 2560x1440 monitors from one card and has already been given the solution of DP + Dual Link DVI.

Thanks for the info / tips everyone :)

I'd bought a Dell U2515H & connected it via HDMI not realising that HDMI on the HD5850 wouldn't support full resolution. When I had a quick google I found that DisplayPort would drive it properly so thought I'd need a card with two ports when/if the next display turns up.

Looking further into it the U2515H specs it has a DisplayPort output that lets you daisy chain screens so hopefully no new card required :)
