Winter Thread - 2015/16 Rain or Snow ?

Sunshine, bright blue sky, sandy beaches and about 30°C water temp if things go to plan.
**** this hole of a country in winter. :p

Calgary, AB

it did snow. did not lay tho just blew around a bit then turned to rain.

My brother drove Calgary to Whistler couple of weeks back they had some light dusting of snow at one point on the way over but it was warm and sunny for more or less the whole time they were at Whistler.

I wish people would stop complaining about fun weather :D

its only fun the first day, after 3 months it gets a bit tiresome.

my deck part way through last years snow

work

and one from a friend in Boston

apparently it will be worse this year :(

Been like a mini summer this past week up here.

It's been a fine two weeks here. Autumn starts today with the rain and I hope it just stays mild until the end of the year followed by a cold and dry spell for January/February.

Up here in Edinburgh I am hoping for long periods of warm sunshine to compensate for the lack of it during the summer months. If the sunshine could be accompanied by a covering of snow even better.

Not what I've read! I've seen reports even from the US that this winter will favour more central parts, west. As for two years running you've had the polar vortex to contend with, which we did in 2010. I want some of that :p

The BBC made a cryptic reference to the coming winter this morning. I was watching the lovely Steph McGovern deliver a piece about energy suppliers and she said if the coming winter is any more severe than currently forecast there could be problems with our energy supple.

So which forecast is she referring to and I wonder how severe it is forecast to be! More questions than answers from Ms McGovern.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Those "experts" behind the metro/express have been discredited so many times its hilarious - these days they are nothing more than a not very amusing parody.

EDIT: Before they changed the weather overlay on google earth I could pretty much reliably predict their next headline - on the dot every time if the weather overlay showed the slightest plume of cold polar air moving vaguely our way it would be followed by one of their "100 days of little ice age" type headlines (I'm pretty sure that was about as far as their research went).
