**** The Official Google Nexus 6P Thread ****

Holding off on this until I see some reviews.

Last time I got two Nexus 5s, one from CPW and one from Google, within a week of release. There wasn't nearly the fuss and bother that happened with the N4 launch where it was out of stock for weeks, so I'm hoping I don't need to pre-order.

Of course, they could muck it all up but for me it's between a 6P and Moto X Style and I don't want to buy without reading a review first. Hopefully they'll be out soon!

I don't see a charge, but my available balance appears to be around £500 less than my actual balance.

Same mate

Hmm. Weird. As above, no confirmation e-mail for me, but just checked my card, and same here as well.

They're checked that you have the money, the card has been authorised for the payment and not yet billed. This pre-payment only lowers your current balance. The payment will be taken when the phone is ready for shipping.

If it's like the N5 launch you'll want one of the second batches of phones anyway.

The Verus case will be here by end of the month.

My personal purchases (OTG Type-C to USB dongle, cables etc) have arrived now. Ready to rock and roll.

Talk on reddit regarding one possible alt-reason for Google not using wireless charging on this is that they want people to adopt the Type-C standard. Having wireless charging would mean that people are less inclined to buy Type-C cables, dongles and chargers.

Having done a lot more reading, it's clear that Type-C is the future, a 1 cable to rule them all kind of affair, it means no more need to carry a power adapter for anything that uses a Type-C port from tablets to phones and laptops all alike. I look forward to 2-3 years from now when everything has a Type-C port and we are able to fast charge directly from them, like how almost every media appliance has a USB port these days, minus any speedy charging of course :p

They used to send me stuff, then I went YouTube only (used to have a blog site too) and they wouldn't send me things anymore :(

Maybe I should ask again? It was about 3 years ago they stopped.

Can only try I guess.

I don't think they really need to try and force adoption of Type C, it has so many benefits over the old style that within 2 years all phones will be type C and within 5 years USB ports will disappear anyway.

Type C can replace every port on the back of a PC as well, monitors and TV's can do away with HDMI ports and cables over time as Type-C does it all. It's a true one cable solution.

Three appear to have confirmed via Twitter that they won't be stocking the 6p (or 5x). Can't afford to buy one upfront so I'm looking for a new network :(

The 6P takes a nano sim, how would one grab one of those as I presently have a micro sim in my Note4. I filed it down back in the day using a template I found online. I don't think it is possible to file the thing down any further?

Yeah, should be. But you would have to be very careful, there isn't much margin for error.

If you really want to do it, surely you'd be better off with a 0% purchases credit card than a mobile phone contract?

Every time I've looked at, the premium on the contracts to account for the included phone is ridiculous.

I've done 2 - Both worked fine.

You can also ask your phone provider to send one out - Should be free in-store, may ask for £5 which you can say no to and they'll still send it - Might be postage tho.

Some 5x orders have changed to "Pending" and users have had money taken. Looks like some 5x owners will get an early shipment. Here's hoping for early 6P orders too.

Don't know what network you're on, but I just called Three and they sent me one out first class for free - even though I specifically told them there was no hurry! Definitely worth a try before you start hacking at your current SIM

There's not much in it. I'd have to start using WiFi as my data usage is horrendous at the moment but I've got free BT WiFi and I think O2 do it as well so not the end of the world.

PAYG - £449 Phone + 24 x £15 = £809

Contract - 24 x £35 = £840
