I've never purchased a tablet, and I always said I wouldn't because they are a waste of money.

But, turns out my girlfriend wants one. She put up a decent arguement of she's fed up of taking her laptop to work to watch films on her break.

I was planning on getting the Nvidia shield so I can have a play now and again on it but turns out that's a discontinued product.

I have no knowledge of any other tablets so suggestions are welcome. Ideally I would like to pick up one for her with expandable storage so I can dump a ton of films on it for her.

If you want expendable storage then I'd look at Android. Nexus, Hudl2, Tab S. The Surface Pro range has expandable storage too iirc but has Windows as the OS.

I personally have an LG G Pad and whilst rather old tech compared to other tablets, it does what I need fine. Have a look at the specs and if possible try holding one in person to see which best fits your needs.

Ive had many many tablets, forget android total waste of money, mind you the Sony z3 is nice, only thing is with android I found is that
Isn't supported so tinternet doesn't work.

On a budget, lynx 8 50 quid works really well

Not on a budget, Lenovo ThinkPad 8 amazing performance, if you can go for the 4gb one, honestly best windows tablet on the market.

I appreciate we all have different opinions but why is Android waste of money? I personally find it a much easier user interface to use and configure than it's rivals.

I think he means, Android tablets...mostly because android tablets are poorly supported by tablet apps.

For just watching films at work on, I'd get something pretty basic. Hudl2 is good value and has a microSD slot.

I have a Hudl1 - it's fine for the basics. I've played a few games on it, but tablet gaming is pretty pants so wouldn't base any buying decision with gaming in mind.

The logic for tablets for girls is usually to go with Apple. But as you wan't expandable storage thats a no go unless you fork out for the large capacity iPads.

So just go with a cheap Android. Its not going to be a waste of money if you only spend under a hundred quid anyway.
