What are my options, i have been looking at a few monitors that have FreeSync as my current LG 28UB65 dosen't and i quite fancy something new hehe.
My system is:
AMD 8320 @3.5ghz
MSI 990FXA GD65
8Gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
Sapphire Reference R9290
I was thinking of maybe getting the new Benq 35 inch 2560x1080 144hz; https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-116-BQ&groupid=17&catid=1851
Or the 165hz ROG swift and making the switch to Nvidia; https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-088-AS&groupid=17&catid=1851 ALTHOUGH the price does put me off.
Then this caught my eye, the Acer Predator 34 inch 3440x1440 FreeSync version and looks sexy as hell! https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-090-AC&groupid=17&catid=948
Then a few 4k FreeSync monitors caught the ol' eye; https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-216-SA&groupid=17&catid=948 SAMSUNG 28 INCH TN VERSION
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-217-SA&groupid=17&catid=948 SAMSUNG 32 INCH PLS VERSION

BUT i spotted this 1440p FreeSync from Asus; https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-083-AS&groupid=17&catid=948
I have a single 290, but could possibly add another if needs be.
What are the drawbacks of each one, and does anyone hold any experience with any of them?
I am really on the hunt for a new monitor at the moment, and could sell my 29UB65 to help fund a large chunk of it!
Any other ideas are very very much welcome!
Is it worth waiting a while and holding the money? Or is it just not going to be worthwhile?

I think 4K is only worth it on maybe 34" Panels or bigger , but to be honest its not something I know much about

Thats a shame :( TV in my bedroom, which is where i house the pc, is 32 inch and never put it back against the wall, but i think it will probably be too big :/

It all depends what you're wanting. Driving games/action would benefit from 21:9 as well as movies, 144Hz FPS, 4K... you get the idea. All depends on what you're going to use it for and what you want from it.

Probably and mostly CS:GO but i have an ultrawide now and love it to bits...

I am in the same position too. I went from a 27 inch 1440p to a 28 inch 4k. Whilst the new screen is far more crisp, the detail is nice, its not a "revolutionary" experience like I expected. I really like the look of a 3440 x 1440, 120/144Hz and IPS. Real shame you can't get all 3... Never tried above 60Hz monitors and I am hoping it will be "a new experience".... But I don't know what to choose.

With the AMD CPU, I would say avoid the high refresh rate monitor but going 4K or Ultrawide 60Hz etc.

The AMD CPU won't be able to uphold the higher frame rate range, plus making 120/144Hz a bit wasted on games which the CPU cannot keep at above 60fps.

for the money i can only recommend the Philips 40" 4k monitor.

Such a bargain. Dont worry about pixels or dust issues as Philips will replace it with a new unit within 14 days if its defective.

What is it like to look at though, as i sit close to my monitor, thats the only issue i can think of against it really!

Explain what you mean exactly? Had no issues with mine, think its more GPU and RAM that is the issue as i need more ram, i understand single core performance is worse, but surely it wont have that much of an effect?

Yeah, we are in exactly the same boat haha, I think if i got a 27 inch 2560x1440 144hz monitor it would be completely french to me, so im trying to avoid it at all possible angles, there is the new Benq one that is 35 inch 144hz but is only 2560x1440 instead of the better 3440x1440, which is a huge shame, and not only that, it dosen't have G-sync, nor does it have Freesync
