R9 390 X2 16384MB The best card ATM for 4K?

It is a very expensive card with some fancy features, but you'd be best spending far less on another card.
It is an absolute beast, but £600+ on a video card is only for the most hardcore PC hardware enthusiasts.

Others will be along to recommend exactly what.

Thanks for that. I want the best bang for buck card and i usually follow toms best cards for the money when getting a new card, but their last one was june. I suspect a Q4 review coming up shortly, but in the meantime i'm a bit in the dark.

It's for use on a single LG 4k tv

That card is probably a mess (temps, noise).

980Ti will give you better performance (better lowest frames, no dual card hiccups).
That card is essentially a 295x2, so it's pointless compared to the 980Ti or even Fury X.

That extra 7% is easily matched with an overclock (while still keeping all the benefits of a single card).

P.S. For 60fps and all games maxed out you'll need dual FuryX or Ti/TitanX SLI.

The 980ti has the best price/performance ratio an high end card has had in along time.

Does the tv have display port?

If not amd cant do 60fps over hdmi.

Weren't the last lot of unofficial dual cards from powercolour a bit crap compared to the real deal (when it arrived)?
I'm thinking of their 7990 specifically.

I don't remember it being crap, but bulky and homemade looking and expensive, Certainly made Amd get their act together. I do remember Tahiti CF had severe frame pacing issues back then.

That 980 is already overclocked a lot so no way its getting another 7%. The 295x2 can overclock too mind and isn't as good as 2x390s.

A highly overclocked 980ti will be easily 20% behind overclocked 390x's.

The Asus 980Ti Strix boosts to 1410MHz out of the box (at least mine does), no way you are getting much higher (7% at least) performance out of the average one.

I'd much rather get a 980Ti - It's a single card so it's much more likely to work, and in the future you can easily add a second for SLI, whereas going 295x2 x2 will be a lot less efficient.

Yeah get a 980Ti, minimum and add another later for SLI if you can afford it.

Otherwise you will be stuck with 4k@30hz on your TV, because AMD doesn't support HDMI 2.0

30hz limits you to 30fps, which is crap.

Definitely would pick up a 980Ti in your situation. Maybe get one from the members market, can be had for around £400 there now.

Read the OP 4K TV No display port.

STOP recommending AMD cards OP will be stuck at 30fps.
Might as well get a 370X if your going AMD.

Nvidia your only cards really are

980ti or Titan X.
