What would be a cheap but reasonable air cooler to use on a 5820K as a temporary measure until I have completed my custom watercooling loop? I need to test all the components for a bit before building it all. Half the coolers don't indicate if they are compatible with the socket or not.

Half the coolers don't indicate if they are compatible with the socket or not.

The 5820K is a 2011-v3 socket, so look specifically for ones that state that. As far as I know however, the mounting is all still the same so any 2011 socket cooler should fit.

At least, that's my experience and knowledge so far with Xeon's on my server board. I've had both an E5-1620 v1 and v2 and they were exactly the same physically. All the differences are inside with lithography, clock speeds and what they do and don't support.

Thanks, but the hyper 212 doesn't state 2011 compatibility. I can only find a few expensive ones which do.
