I'm sure one day the lord will have a word with his Bishops and they'll drop their opposition to it so more lives can be saved... praise be to God

In all serious though, the story is quite miraculous. Isn't medicine great! Being a doctor of that sort must be highly rewarding.
 
Yea, i agree. Miraculous indeed! To think that a life can be saved by such skilled doctors and technologies.

Whilst it is humorous initially, can we please try and reel in the religion bashing a little. It's a little tiresome having threads derailed because of one comment - I don't mind a bit of humour/mickey taking, but not post after post and at every opportunity. Please?

Back on topic - an incredible story, though the title is a little more dramatic than the actual event. Hope the kid recovers fully and does not have any complications down the line.

It is a shame we do not see more good news stories and we are blighted with despair and misery all the time :( I understand that news has to be bad at times, and often is, but it would be good to have it balanced with some good news stories like this!

A toddler is expected to make a full recovery after a near-fatal car accident caused his head to detach from his spine.
Jaxon Taylor, who is just 16 months old, was in a head-on collision in New South Wales, Australia.
His C1 and C2 vertebrae were broken, separating his head from his neck. His sister was also badly injured.

This is an absolutely amazing story! Thank God for such wonderful medical technology! It is amazing what the medical profession can do these days.

Depends how they are obtained. And then it depends on whether you consider it ethical give a life back (quality of life I'm talking about and length of life) against the alternative which would be destroyed anyway.

So you either lose a 'life' that isn't technically a life in the first place to gain a life back for someone who otherwise doesn't have much of a life and it would end quicker anyway or you lose that 'life' anyway and no one gets anything except pain.

From a science point of view it's a no brainer but from an ethical point of view there's always going to be issues.
 
The original story is incredible about how technology and knowledge has moved on. I love the 'detach' reference. We were talking about this in Biology today. :)
