I'll remember to try that in future!
Hell one simple contact and Ive had £250 off a monitor before now and and on more than one occasion bought things that had been on TWO prices much later on by just asking.
Shy boys get nothing

I'll remember to try that in future!
You would be surprised and I think you would find out they would say yes. They did with me anyway.
They replied no, they don't price match and can't offer discounts. Anything else they can help me with?
Just seems a bit odd to me. Thoughts?
Depends on their markup I guess - sometimes for branded items the markup may only be 5-20% from the supplier
Who is it and what are you buying? That will help with the advice.
For guitar parts on the guitars I build, I expect 25-30% volume discount depending how many guitars I make in a year and the type of parts. Negotiations on the wood is more bespoke.
For equipment like amps, cases, pa or even guitars, 10-15% is readily obtainable even on low volume and one off purchases.
Andertons position is fair on this given the non UK scope. They will price match in the UK against other uk dealers.
Peach are always good but different margins on second hand guitars etc.
I know Andertons very well, they are based in Guildford and i spent at least an hour a week there when i went to the University of Surrey. They have very low margins as much of what they stock is essentially as concession stock (especially the pricier stuff). In this case if it is a concession and not actually Andertons own stock, they cant change the price as the stock would still be owned by the supplier and priced according to the supplier, they would just get a portion of the sale.
You cant compare prices outside of the UK to UK stockists as the price differences vary massively and we usually pay a fair premium.
I love Andertons, they are helpful and passionate about what they sell. You can waste hours in their trying out everything in the soundproof rooms.
You answered your own question. Low margins.
