Damaged monitor?

Hi there,

I bought a brand new system back in early July this year and I bought the Acer XB280HK 4K monitor to go with it.

I started my PC up about ten minutes ago and went about doing other stuff, I turned the monitor off before I left it. I have come back to the PC and turned the monitor on and there is a big yellow line running vertically down the centre of the monitor now. I have tried turning the screen off and on multiple times and have disconnected from the GPU and the line is still there when the monitor isn't connected to a source.

I assume I'm going to need to return the monitor at this point? I just wanted to double check there isn't anything I can try to do before I look into returning it.

Thanks

3 months is often the lifetime of those monitors. Betcha it returns.
Just wait for the red stuck pixels to appear!

Plus if you return it you'll probably never ever see your monitor again, speaking from experience.

Are these monitors infamous for doing this after three months?

And what do you mean by the last part: 'Plus if you return it you'll probably never ever see your monitor again, speaking from experience'.

Wasn't quite sure what you meant, as in, I'll end up deciding on a completely different monitor as a replacement?

Oh, if the yellow line has now disappeared, can I still return it? Because there's now nothing there to prove its faulty?

I think he meant rather than getting a brand new monitor to replace your existing one or having your monitor repair, they will probably send you a "refurbished" one that's probably cosmetically older than yours, plus the replacement may or may not be faulty itself as well.

Acer ain't exactly well-known for great customer support...
