Hello!

So I recently built a new system with the H440 NZXT Case after having my eye on it for quite a while.

I was actually surprised at how loud it is! I know the fans are all running at full pelt, but it's loud! BTW.. I got the first model after noticing there was an improved 2015 model.

My question is, does anyone have any suggestions on how to quieten this thing down? Is it simply the case that the stock fans are loud or because they're running at 12v?

In the past I have used fan controllers in a bay, but obviously with this case it's not possible.

thanks!

The fans are very loud in the H440. I have 2 front panels, one with foam and one without yet neither noticeably affects noise or cooling.

You have a couple of options. You could change the pins on the molex powering the grid such that it only provides 7v or 5v. Or use a fan speed reducer like the ones that come with noctua devices.

You can hook them up to your motherboard if it can control fans.

However what I have done is buy a NZXT Grid+ V2 which is an internal software controlled fan controller. I have it set up to change fan speeds based on my GPU as that is the only thing really dumping heat into my custom loop.

The stock fans are simply loud, I found that when I used a resistor to slow them down, they shifted practically no air. So I replaced them all with noctua high static pressure PWM fans, and it is superb.

Given the PC case is ~£99 and I spent ~£120 on fans, it seems somewhat strange, but I love the design of the case, and am more than happy to make it as I want it to be - cool and quiet

If you aren't looking to spend £120 then I can thoroughly recommend Silverstone FQ121 fans. I got mine when they were in today only for £4 each.

Crikey! That's a lot of fans!
