Hey y'all,

I'm in need of £13k soon. Very soon. How would you go about procuring this sum?

Now for some context! I'm extending the lease on my place and that is the premium agreed with the freeholder. I will probably need the amount in the next 4-8 weeks. Of course I've considered the usual loan / rob a bank approach but with all you clever folks on here I was wondering if you have any suggestions about smarter ways to borrow please?

Thank you!! :D;)

I have a large amount of money which is tied up in Nigeria - I need a third party who I can transfer it to in order to be able to move it. It's £500,000.

I would be willing to let you keep 10% if you can provide me with your bank account details and name?

how long do you need it for? you can get bank loans for under 4% APR at moment

Realistically about 18-24 months - yeah that's not bad I've seen those floating around - just wondering if there are even cheaper ways to borrow money!

I know a good deal when I see one!

have you approached your mortgage company? That would be the easiest (and one of the cheapest) solution for most people in this situation. If you're not locked into a fixed rate deal then speaking to a broker and remortgaging may be an option though might need longer than 8 weeks.

you wont get much better for that period, even a CC 0% transfer will cost more because of fees (usually)

Have you tried a man after midnight?
Are you offering to help me chase the shadows away?

*Squirm* I'll probably end up with an extra arm or something.. terrifying. I'm not that desperate :D

Sell a kidney.
Doubt it'd be worth 13k, it's been well used. Probably could trade it for an iPhone

Already on a fixed rate until about 2017 :(

eh? what bank loan would be cheaper over 2 years than simply paying a 3% fee for a money transfer card?

edit - on the link above MBNA are doing one with a 1.89% fee even for 24 months

as I said "usually"

remember the 3% on CC transfer is a flat fee not an APR and many are 3.9 these days

at 1.89 it will be a better deal

12k over 18 months had a £468 charge at 3.9% , interest on loan would be about £360

Can you buy it out?
In England I mean? Here you can buy out your ground rent and own your own freehold, it is a legal right, and costs 9 years ground rent afaik.
Would seem cheaper than 13K.
Are the rules different in England?

This thread wasn't what i expected
