Well I was loading something in my car outside my work the other day and I ended up getting a parking ticket. Now the state of the double yellow lines are a mess and half of them are missing.
I sent them a letter stating the fact that the double yellow lines were defective and there was no T Bar at the end and therefore this parking fine is not valid.

Basically they sent me this back today..

"It is not law that yellow lines must be in perfect condition at all times, however it is important that a motorist on reasonable enquiry can ascertain the nature and existence of the restriction and in this instance it was considered that there were sufficient markings in place to conclude that no parking was permitted in this location. Futhermore the vehicle was parked in a location is clearly not an authorised parking area and so I am satirsfied that the penalty charge notice was served correctly and regret I am unable to instruct cancellation in this instance"

I have attached a picture below. take a look at the lines. Now what is my next cause of action. Should I try to appeal more or am I going to get nowhere?

The image isn't very clear but it does look like your parked on the yellow lines. It also looks like your partially blocking an entrance. I think if you appeal it they will just reject it again.

Just deal with it and pay up. You were in the wrong, broken yellow lines or not, you took the chance and it backfired, oh well.

Post it up on fightback forums, all you'll get here are standard sanctimonious responses which serve no purpose whatsoever.

This.

There's more than enough double yellow visible to alert anyone that it's a no parking zone.

OP knew this, parked there anyway and got a ticket.

Hopefully, learning will occur.

I'm amazed at the amount of people that would just pay up. Who really cares about "oh you did it"? If I could avoid paying the council £35 to waste on pointless crap then I sure as hell would.

OP, I'd go to Peppipoo and ask.

Where has this fashion come from where people try to worm their way out of responsibility?

This. Man up. Don't park there again. If you can't afford the fine then sell the 10 grand focus and keep £11,950 change. If you can afford it then pay it and stop being a whiney *****

Ah, the good old "man up" excuse :p

It's pretty simple as far as I'm concerned. Let's say the fine is £60 for example.

Do you earn more than £60 per hour?

If you do, pay it and move on.

If you don't, it'll take about an hour to formulate a decent appeal after posting on fightback forums.

You appeal it, you win, therefore you have saved yourself a decent chunk of money for an hours effort.

They're more than happy to prosecute people on technicalities, so I find it hilarious how so many people have some weird skewed moral compass which won't allow them to appeal on technicalities.

Man up? It has precisely zero to do with masculinity.

I believe the phrase is being used to indicate that the OP should accept responsibility for his actions.

Exactly. It probably was a mistake, fair enough. But decent people accept and take responsibility for their mistakes, pathetic individuals try and weasel their way out of every responsibility to save a few pennies. OP can decide what sort of person he is.

The lines are poorly maintained yes, but nobody with a functioning brain would park there without knowing they're being a bit cheeky.

You can't impose such nonsense on people. It doesn't determine what sort of person the OP is just because he doesn't want to pay a fine.

Next you'll be telling us that illegal means wrong and legal means right.

They had a similar case on one of those parking programmes. The adjudicator decided in favour of the council, and said no one could reasonably think it was okay to park there even if the lines were broken (this wasn't even a dropped kerb either, a normal road).

The guy who was appealing looked pretty embarrassed when he got told lines being worn didn't remove their validity. He literally just sat there as he had no other argument to make.

Any signs will also go against you.

Loading/unloading on double yellows is fine as long as there are no other loading restrictions

Looks pretty obvious to me that you shouldn't be parked there. However if you were unloading something from your car you should have only really been there a minute or two, how long did you leave your car parked up for?
