Hey

I have a Mazda 3 2.2d 185.
it's soon going in to have the dpf gutted and a remap, I'm also having them do some other stuff to the intake and exhaust side.

they have estimated around 245bhp once this is all done.

I was wondwrong, the MPS has some nice body work, the bumpers and bonnet are nice and the spoiler is much better.

would these things be able to bolt onto my mazda? My front bumper looks nice already so would probably just go for the bonnet and spoiler.
I'm going to source some RX8 alloys in black and put those on and lower it around 25mm

I have tried looking for this answer online but no one's seems to have done it.

it's the 2011 model btw, fair few mps in breakers yards from the same age ish.
So shouldn't cost much to get the two parts, but will cost a little to have them painted graphite mica

Looking forward to your thoughts on the matter. If your going to say "ewww no" then please tell me why.
thanks

with the amount of money you're going to spend, you may as well just buy the MPS

weigh up the difference between this and what yours would get at trade in

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...l-mazda-service-history-2-keys-11-reg/4738467

then compare it with how much its going to cost to find all the MPS body parts, have them fitted, sprayed and all the other engine mods you're planning on doing I can't imagine there would be much in it.

People who do this do it because they're 18 and can't get an insurance on the MPS. So they buy a bog standard one and tart it up to like an MPS.

The Mods and remap are going to cost £750.
I can get the spoiler for £90
Bonnet is around £200

Painting will be £350 from local painter.

It will be 15Bhp* from the MPS, and do over 40MPG... The MPS is 4.5K more if i was to sell up and buy one and then only 25mpg...

You're wasting your cash

I've had a remapped civic that was "just 20bhp*" from my fn2 - it was nothing like the same to drive and never would , honestly a total waste of money at the kind of figures you're quoting

*I doubt the car even made the claimed figures tbh

Why make your car something that it's not? It's a decent looking car just get a remap and leave it.
If anyone who's into cars walks past your rattling Diesel engine with an MPs bodykit on there just gonna laugh thinking your a wannabe boy racer. Like all these idiots who buy 318d's them de badge them and but M sport bodykit and badges. Not to mention i doubt the painted parts will match properly.
I thought getting rid of the dpf was not aloud anymore? Your killing the environment :p

Anyone who is a car person will be able to tell it isn't an MPS when it dagdags past. Anyone who isn't a car person isn't going to care and just wonder what you're car is so happy about.

Yeah dont lol :(

That mk2 MPS above for 12.5k is well overpriced.
Mk1's have regularly been coming up sub 5k now, I even saw a couple of Mk2's at 7.5k but they sold pretty much instantly :(

Not Fancy a 6mps?

RX8 alloys are a fairly common occurance as for lowering have a look at Eibach and H&R, I'd still be tempted to have the DPF ripped out and mapped out tho, if it proves good returns.

Kinda love this car now i have been in it a couple of weeks, Just ticks all my boxes!

Seen some Eibach Springs for £140, not bad at all. If the suspension setup is simple enough i will fit them myself or pay a garage £60 to do it

RX8 Alloys do look nice, especially freshly coated black or grey, Although grey may be a bit too much as the car is already Graphite.

And i will be 100% gutting the DPF and having the remap, when that starts to regen my MPG numbers tank!

Don't listen to the naysayers. Do what you want. You obviously like the car as it is, but would like to make it look a bit better. You are not turning it into an MPS rep with a bonnet and spoiler. Anyone who says that is what you are doing is crazy. And absoluetly, a 20mpg difference between the cars is very noticable.

And go for the remap. Again, yo're not trying to make it as quick as an MPS, but rather get a bit more out your current car.

If you were planning a full bodywork and engine change to make it like an MPS that would be different. Then you're better off selling and buying an MPS. But a remap and a couple cosmetic changes is not the same as trying to "copy" an MPS. If you like the look you are going for, then just do it. And screw everyone else. It's your car, do what makes YOU feel happy.

A wee drop, nice wheels, and some minor cosmetic mods can make all the difference to a car. Good luck with it.

Whilst I do drive a gas guzzling V6 I'm hardly in a position to preach, but I disagree with DPF removal owing to just how much crap is spewed out of diesel cars.

It all seems rather pointless to me, you obviously bought the diesel to save money and now you want to spend hundreds on modifications to make it appear like the performance variant.

I don't have anything against remapping (if the drivetrain can handle it) but the rest seems unnecessary for a diesel hatchback, and lowering will only ruin the ride quality.

This. Do whatever you want with the car, if you want to stick a big chavvy aftermarket spoiler on it then do it, its your car and its your choice, personally I think its cool that you can modify your car to get more oomph out of it, not that different to buying a processor and overclocking it.

Don't really understand the naysayers, not everyone is so shallow to buy a bloody car to show off to their neighbors or passers by, maybe he just want to makes his car look good for himself.
