Are tattoos passé yet?

Personally I don't like them, and I think you can only pull them off if you're in a band (same as guys with long hair - only looks cool if you are on stage). Don't get the skull thing either, seems quite popular but it's a horrific image of death, so don't know why you'd want a reminder of it on your skin.

In my gym the majority of people have tattoos. Women usually have a flower or those little stars, so they look alright, but the guys tend to have those awful generic "tribal" tattoos on their arms. They all make sure to wear tank tops too, so you can appreciate them. The one that stands out was this guy who had a big tattoo on his calf of a demon drawing a sword from a scabbard - the problem was the hilt was right where his penor would be, so it looked like he was giving himself an overhand tug :D. Had to do a double take on that one.

Incidentally, a colleague of my brother's just got back from Shanghai, where he flew specifically to get a tattoo from some world famous tattoo artist who charges £300ph. Would be interested to see what he got done.

Its a lifestyle choice, like the clothes you wear, or the car you choose to drive. You wouldn't judge someone by the colour of their skin, but somehow make it artificial colour and its ok.

What someone chooses to do to their body is their choice, and theirs alone, i've met people tattooed to the point of looking like a neo nazi who are lovely, mild mannered people, and folk who keep themselves fit, dress well and look after their body who are absolute *****s.

Judge someone by their words and their actions, not by their appearance.

Problem is that human nature is we all judge on instant first impressions within a few seconds. Some people look past this, others don't.

The choice to have a tattoo is one of their actions

I'm not fussed (don't have any myself) as long as they aren't too much, and even then that would only influence how attractive I find the person.

My gf has a little gecko on the small of her neck, and a dragon just above her ankle, and they look nice imo.

A tattoo which is visible in every day interactions is obviously going to influence peoples opinion of you. We don't exist in a vacuum.

You cannot get 'MURDERER' tattooed on your forehead and then say "Oh that's just for me, it's none of your business" when people take offence. If it was something private and personal, it ought not to be put in the public domain.

Whilst your right in a sense, its not nessecarily a reflection of the individuals personality, after all im sure there are many folk who had tattoo's during an adventurous youth only to settle down.

Thats the point i was trying to make at least

And when the grandkids ask granny or grandad what there tattoos are they may well have some fascinating tales to be told.

That's why people don't talk to me then! I should have stuck with 'I could murder a cup of tea'.

well she is pretty regardless of the tattoos - though the tattoos let you know a couple of things:

1) it won't take many dates to get her to put out

2) that is a good thing as you won't want to date her for long - she's likely a bit unstable

That post speaks volumes about your deep seated prejudice and bigotry and nothing about the psychology of tattoo recipients.

We should all fight the natural urge to judge but at the very least if we are going to judge how's about basing it on substance rather than skin deep and utterly irrelevant stuff like this!!
