One step closer to war with Russia?

Your previous answer regarding Obama's foreign policy in the context of Syria was not on topic, it was a classical "whatabouttery" - what about all those innocent people the US murder through drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen etc.?

Actually it was on topic. Myself and others had been talking about the fact Britain and the US routinely arm Saudi Arabia and other nations that foster the growth of Wahabbism.

It was a continuation of that topic.

But apparently some people don't like it pointed out that their country and government fed them a bunch of lies, engaged in two illegal invasions and wars leading to the deaths and displacement of millions and continues to engage in war crimes by bombing remote targets they can't even be sure are legitimate ending in the murder of civilians and children. And it's not like they don't have a history of it in their own ****ing country like Bloody Sunday when the Parachute Regiment opened up on a load of people on a civil rights march. And then some English ****** has the tenacity to lecture people on the big bad Assad infringing peoples civil and human rights. Give me a break.

How's that for a bit of whataboutery?

I thought we were OK to do business with regimes with terrible human rights records now? If you get rid of the House of Saud then what would replace it? Islamic State probably. It'd be nice if the pro-Putin lot could get a bit of consistency in their arguments.

Can't do business with themselves after all.

Whatever pro Western puppet regime they want. Exactly like they did in Iran prior to the revolution.

Oh look, someone with a chip on his shoulder about the English

Oh look the racist and xenophobe from the EU thread. Who'd have thought you wouldn't pop up in a thread where someone criticises your beloved country and government. You're probably the type that thinks the government was wrong to apologise for the murder of those on Bloody Friday by the Paras I bet.

Yeah, cos that's exactly what's happened in Libya and Iraq, as I've been frequently reminded. That's the west's problem right now, they've been playing too nicely, remember that if the west doesn't assert its values on other countries then those other countries will assert their values on the west.

All that fire power from Libya that killed Irish men and Irish women. And British soldiers.

Yes, the advanced democracies, lead by the US, are forced to choose allies that represent the lesser evil sometimes. It's just how the world works, it's how it has always worked and there's no alternative. I understand why you're moaning, I suspect anyone would want a solution that doesn't involve the loss of innocent lives but it doesn't look like one such solution exists, does it?

I didn't have you down as an IRA sympathiser - no wonder you're up Putin's chuff. I tell you what, why don't you explain what 'the Adjutant of the Derry Brigade of the Provisional IRA' was doing with an armalite in the Bogside on Bloody Sunday? Then we can discuss the actions of the Paras.

What have I said that's racist or xenophobic? Humour me

See, I'm neither an IRA sympathiser, nor up Putins chuff. But the fact my criticising of someone who would think that the British government apologising for the murder of civilians on a civil rights march would irk you enough to claim me to be either and you immediately retaliate with "well what about McGuinness hurp durp" as if it's an excuse for what the Parachute Regiment did... says more about you. You're just as much of one of those wee plastic flag waving rule Britannia sorts. I bet you cried when Diana died too. Peoples Princess. Boo hoo.

No I just don't think it's as one sided as the media and establishment cover-up would have you believe. Just like the Syrian civil war it's a complicated issue and one which isn't going to be solved by joining Russia in bombing everyone apart from our chosen allies.

As for being up Putin's chuff, I bet you can see through his nostrils.

So an apology for the murder of a bunch of civilians on a civil rights on British soil, by a unit of the British army, was a cover up? Of what exactly. You are one of them scumbags that think the apology was wrong. Omg. LOL.

You're so far up her Royal Highnesses chuff that when she's giving Philip head it's your tonsils he's touching.

It was a whitewash to save the Good Friday agreement - it's hard to see how Sinn Fein IRA could have remained in government if it turned out that the Deputy First Minister was engaged in terrorist activities that day. Do you honestly think the Paras just decided to open fire on unarmed civilians for a laugh?. Britain has a long and glorious history of leaving servicemen and women out in the rain when it suits (Marine A anyone?).

hahahaha what a load of ********. McGuinness has been pictured holding guns from way back. Has admitted he was in and operational in the IRA. There was nothing about the GFA that needed saving when the apology was given. The only thing recently that has rocked the boat is the latest IRA killings of two former members.

Do you honestly think the Paras just decided to open fire on unarmed civilians for a laugh?

YES! Because they did the exact same thing at Ballymurphy!

Britain has a long and glorious history of leaving servicemen and women out in the rain when it suits (Marine A anyone?).

Can't ever criticise "our boys" right? It's all a big conspiracy. You probably think that Marine that was jailed for executing an injured Taliban... when he knew he shouldn't and that it was against the rules of war... was justified. Despite it being nothing more than murder.

What exactly are you talking about when you claim the foreign policy was weak and inept? What exactly would you have done differently? Start another war in the Middle East because the other two were such glorious successes?

Wow, you just go ahead and make ridiculous assumptions and put words in my mouth. why don't you....

With regard to Syria, US policy has been stupid and counter-productive. It's made ISIS stronger. Now Russia is involved. Now Obama goes on 60 Minutes and tries to wash his hands of the whole thing.

So when do we have to go into our bunkers?

Might be sooner than you think...

While I'm not being entirely serious however things in Syria looking like coming to a head - rebel groups are basically in a position where they have to make a last stand/counter-attack working together against government forces or fade away and never regain the ground they have - with the government forces bolstered by Russia going on a heavy offensive this might push the rebel groups into working with ISIS - meanwhile the US is airdropping (with heavy fighter coverage) massive amounts of supplies to the rebel forces cooperating with them... has all the potential to go very badly wrong.
