Hi,

My mother and I want to get my brother a watch for Christmas. We have a budget of up to maybe £300. He likes watches with black faces, maybe a chrono but not a hard requirement. I don't know if it is possible to get any kind of automatic, or anything with a sweeping second hand for that kind of money? I guess not?

Any help anyone can give towards getting one/ suggesting brands is much appreciated

Thanks!

yes it is possible - you can get a seiko automatic quite easily within budget

you may be able to get a tissot (not sure)...

you used to be able to get Christopher Ward watches at that level too but they've decided to hike their prices though some Steinhart Watches will (just) be in budget - for example:

(disclaimer I don't own a steinhart so check reviews online)

I have the non chronograph version of that and it has been used for every day, the gym, diy, board meetings, exec conferences, ceo black tie meets etc etc and it never really looks out of place.

I wear it every day and never have to worry about it as ultimately 1) it seems indestructible and 2) if I lost it I could replace it without any stress.
