Hi i saw a similar discussion somewhere about hiring cleaners and i was wondering if anyone here does it and why?

For me i dont and never have because i was brought up to clean my own place so to speak.

Yes its cheap to hire someone and saves you 2-3 hours of doing it per week but are people really that busy to cant spend 2-3hours a week cleaning there flat/house?

Are people just lazy? Or are people just too busy that they cant even spare 2-3hours?

Thoughts?

Yes, I hire cleaners because:

1) They're better at it than me;
2) It's nice to come home from work to a nice clean home;
3) It provides employment for local women who probably don't have any other skills;
4) Although I do technically have time to clean my house, I'd really rather be doing something else in my free time.

At £15 for 2 hours, they can do the washing up, the washing, clean the house, including dusting, skirting boards, hover, polish the furniture. Depends on size of your house, how you live, cost shouldn't be too much of a problem, also creates jobs.

We have a cleaner who does 4 hours a week for us. She cleans, polishes, washes the floors and does some ironing as well. She does a great job and frees us up our time.

I'd rather pay a relatively small sum and spend the time with my kids doing something fun. Guess it also buys me an extra hour or two on the PC as well ;)

Yeah, both of us work full time and paying them 20 quid a week so we dont have to spend half of our Saturday cleaning is well worth it. :)

Yes, I've had cleaners for years. I am rubbish at it and not interested and value my time more than I pay them (and that of my wife's to be honest........she doesn't work and we still have cleaners...............hold on a second?!)

Yes. Both of us work 40 - 50 hour weeks on week days and are away every other weekend. With only every other weekend free at home there's no way we're wasting our time on cleaning.

It isn't like we let the place turn into a tip. We keep on top of things generally and then have cleaners in every fortnight.

^ this. The $120 it costs us a every two weeks is well worth it.

In a similar situation, although we don't currently get cleaners in - tempted to do so every couple of weeks though, just for the bits that don't get done often.

Obviously laundry/dishes/hoovering etc get done daily/every couple of days, but things like giving the bathroom a proper clean etc means a few hours out of a weekend when we could be having a family day out.

Cleaner is sooooo worth it... like a lot of people have said both work full time and we both keep on top of everything during the week but there is no better feeling than walking in on a Friday night to a thoroughly cleaned house. Means weekends are more enjoyable.

Yep. Monday and a Friday.

With three kids and doing a degree I don't have time to clean and I'd rather spend that time doing fun stuff with the kids.

That's a whole new debate - on what day do you get the cleaners to come in?!

We're the opposite - we have ours on Monday to offer maximum cleaning after the weekend when we've spent the most time in the house. I can see the attraction of the Friday though, and going into the weekend clean!

We get ours done on a Friday so the house it spotless for the weekend, means we can relax and enjoy our weekends. Its a big house and cleaning is such a chore when you spend a lot of the time at work during the week.
