Do you Hire cleaners?

Yes I have for many many years.

1 I will not do a good job
2 I would rather do something else
3 I earn more per hour than the cleaner costs me so I value my time above that of what a cleaner costs me.
4 it provides local employment to people that need it

Yes, I've had cleaners for years. I am rubbish at it and not interested and value my time more than I pay them (and that of my wife's to be honest........she doesn't work and we still have cleaners...............hold on a second?!)

Think my wife and yours would get on... :p

We did have but they were rubbish so I got rid of them. I would like one tbh, but it's finding a good trustworthy one here which is hard.

We have one in for 1.5 hrs/week of cleaning. £10/hr

In that time, she does a job that used to take me almost 2 hours, plus some of the stuff Mrs Cheesyboy used to do.

With work and getting the kids to bed, then eating, I'm not usually free until 8.30pm ish, weekdays, and there're other jobs to do at that point. Weekends is family time, don't want to be wasting it vacuuming.

To be honest, I'd have considered it lazy before I had kids because I had a lot more spare time.

we both work full time..my wife has to work some saturdays as well...we would rather be doing other stuff during our free time.

Yeah the last bit gets me

And me.

On an economic basis, it 100% would make sense. But my home is my refuge, my castle, my man-cave even. Even the wife doesn't venture into my 'office'. Cleaners? Strangers? Hell, no. I'd rather do it myself.

Also, if you do use cleaners, when you aren't present, be careful about the implications for home insurance.

Cleaning helps you keep fit. And it's only like 2 or 3 hours a week at most. Plus as mentioned I wouldn't want strangers in my house.

We've only ever used 2 cleaners in 6 years of being here. Both have been recommended to us by others and have (and had) references which were ideal. Neither were through an agency.

Our current cleaner has a front and back door key and has a key fob for the electric gate. We trust her implicitly but I get why some people are not okay with this as a principle.

Not at the moment but I would do as it is a tedious thing to do, and whilst I don't mind doing it, paying someone else to do it is far more appealing.

How do you know he's getting a student loan? Also it's still a better use than peeing it up the wall like your usual student.

Because he has stated it previously. He has also said he is retired and has stated that he never intends to earn above the threshold and knowingly took advantage of the loans offered him (while taking high minded positions on any number of other issues). That's how.

Find a local cleaner. References from neighbours & any funny business and they are going to lose all their income...

Lol ... almost exactly what I was going to say. We started when the missus was pregnant with child number 1 and just carried on. It is more of a habit than anything else now - we don't need one, but its a nice to have. When our current one decides to leave or retire I don't think we'll get another though.

Yes, we have a cleaner. Does all of the cleaning and ironing - and to a much higher standard than I would.

2-3 hours a week is a pretty big time saving for me when you consider how long I'm out of the house.
