Upgrade now or wait for Q1 2016?

As TW3 is out and other games are pretty demanding, I would upgrade now. 1080P would see a 970 cope and a 980 cope easier, whilst for 1440P, I would be looking to a 980Ti.

390 no good then? lol

At the prices I would have assumed his best bet is to go for a 390 or go full whack and get a 980ti. Can get a 980Ti for £480 which is not bad :)

R9 390 8GB or GTX 980 Ti depending on budget / performance needs.

These are the best value / performance for decent 1080P / 1440P gaming imho.

Great value R9 390 8GB here @ £229.99 inc VAT >> http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-178-PC&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=3059

Lot's of well priced 980 Ti's @ OCUK. Free game as well..

Q2 is a long wait. I am tempted by a 980, how long do you think I'll be able to play at 1080p or 1440p with a 980?

I've only ever seen second-hand 670 4GB for ~£200, unless I am looking in the wrong places.

Don't get the GTX 980 as it will not last long.

Go for a GTX 980 Ti as it means you can skip small Pascal when it arrives as the 980 Ti won't be much slower.

NVidia are likely to release small Pascal first to milk their customers to the max and then big Pascal 6 months later.

Q2 has been cited but its been hinted this will be low end 950/960 type cards and that the full fat ones are more likely to be Q3 if not Q4.

How does the 980 Ti do with DirectX 12? Makes sense to look at that now as I would want to keep the card for 2-3 years+.

I guess it'll be hard to say until real DirectX 12 games come out, which could be years?

980ti ftw if you have 1440p. You can just about max out the witcher with that card and a small overclock. That'll keep you going until the good stuff next year. Will be a very tasty upgrade from a 670 too.

Either 390 or wait. If you get 60 for the 670 you can upgrade for 170 and get resale with the 390 when you upgrade again. Imo its not much for a big upgrade.
