Do you Hire cleaners?

Exactly.

Also, I only ever engage the services of people direct (i.e. self employed) - I'd never use a cleaning agency (I don't like the idea of lining the pockets of an exploitative employer). It provides gainful employment for someone so I'm spreading my wealth a little.

It is not that we can't be bothered to walk the dog it's that he is a Black Labrador puppy aged only 16 weeks so we can't leave him in his crate for too long. The Dog sitter comes at 12pm to give him his lunch & let him go to the toilet and again at 3.15pm to take him for a walk. We walk the dog every evening it's just that during the day we are both at work.
 
We've finally given in and got a cleaner, 2hrs a week. (I always said its something I wouldn't do).

Having a young family and both being full time proffesionals, spending a few more hours with the kids on the weekends rather than cleaning means a lot.

Ours is £14 an hour, and so far we're really impressed.
 
I'd love to pay a cleaner £20~ for 2 hours work one a week but I just don't know if I could trust somebody in the house alone!

I guess it's just the same as a plumber/electrician.

We used to use an ironing lady when we lived in Bristol. £15 for a bin bag full of ironing.

Used to send 20+ of my work shirts every month. She complained a bit that it took her longer than others, so we had to up the fee to £20. Worth every penny.

Mrs Cheesyboy does it now though.
 
If you can afford it and don't want the hassle why not.

I don't think I would personally but won't knock anyone who does.
 
I would quite happily get a cleaner, I can well afford it. But my GF would never consider it and would see it as a waste of money.

Shame.

And that paying for it would be better than not even spending the 2-3 hours per week :p

I would happily pay but the mrs prefers to do it herself. Don't have a an issue with it. It's not lazy. I don't clean my windows either which free's up time to do other stuff.

What implications? Just make sure that you're covered. Most home contents policies cover theft or damage from someone working in the home, and also cover legal liability should they injure themselves.
 
I'd hire a cleaner too, tbh. Only trouble is, I don't make much mess. Habit to just tidy or clean up after I do anything.
 
It takes a whole morning to clean our place, longer if you really do a proper job, which isn't something i'm prepared to do at the weekends, I happily pay someone else to do it and use the time to have fun with the family instead.
 
I never hire cleaner cos never trust as some were trying to steal, etc. I clean my own as good exercise everyday.. I never left someone in my home cos of very strange.. Don't like it
 
I'm looking into getting a cleaner currently. Including travel, my GF and I are out of the house for 60hrs+ Mon-Fri and knackered on the weekends. Throwing a cleaner £20ish a week is a no brainer for me.
