Hi guys.

I have an old TV which has given up the ghost. It shows no picture through any source, however the backlight and volume/channel/menu OSD still works and I get sound. My googling leads me to believe I need a new tcon board for the TV. I've taken it apart and it seems a simple plug+play job.

My problem is that the websites I've found selling these boards don't have the same serial that mine does. In fact no two pictures I've found of a board for this TV has the same serial.

Can anyone tell me if, from what I've described, the Tcon board is the likely culprit, and also if any old replacement board will do?

For reference, the TV is a Toshiba Regza 32AV555D. The Tcon board I have has a serial of 8AG1T. Whereas this site (amongst others) has anything but. Hopefully someone can confirm before I buy the part.

Cheers

post up a picture of the board.

Parts can vary for the same model I have seen this with laptop and tv before most times it can be to do with revisions or when it was produced and they get say boards from Samsung then switch supplier so Sharp then produce them.

Email that company they will be ale to tell you.

Is 8AG1T the only number on the board?

I would try contacting the website you linked to and asking them if they could source you a board. But definitely post up a good detailed pic on here so we can have a look

I do - I only just got around to taking the TV apart again tonight to take some pictures :P

Is 8AG1T the only number on the board?
There's a couple of others, but thats the one closest to the format of the items listed in the shop. The serial I posted is from the white box at the top. Here's the pictures of the current board:

Apologies for the poor quality of this closeup on the serial, but it's hard to read even in good light. I tried to sharpen it so it's about as readable as it can be.

I emailed the shop too at the same time I posted the OP and no response yet. Just about to chase up with these pics as well.

I emailed the shop myself but like you Iv had no reply. Those boards all look very similar wich is a bit of a head ache really.

Just looking at the pics on the web site again and it looks as if they all have the same number on the white tape at the top. Maybe its just a generic picture but who knows?

eBay is usually fantastic for various boards like this, certainly have a good check there.

I have repaired 2* plasmas at my house with ebay replacement boards now, saving my latest 50" LG plasma cost me £6.50 delivered for a new PSU board :p

My experience of these boards are that manufacturers use slightly different revisions of boards and they are interchangable, my PSU board for example had a different model number and revision to the one which it replaced. I did some research and it turns out LG use the same board over loads of models and source them from different factories and all sorts. The different boards even have slightly different components. In the end i just bought one which had the same connections and exact same form factor so that it would definitely fit the TV and it works fine :)

Awesome, thanks Armageus! That looks spot on. Just ordered it, hopefully I'll have a second TV up and running when it arrives on Tuesday.
