Purchased one of these to test replace my Gigabyte G1 980ti which has bad coil whine and is under rma.

The strix while gaming in bf4 is hitting 85 deg c with no OC and in the default mode 1190/1800.

Compared with the G1 this seems high, what is the normal temp for this Strix card?

that's way too high for a stock card.

they stop boosting at 80C so will be throttling.

Under load, what fan speed are the fans going at?

Mine doesn't get that high and it's at the same clocks at yours (1190, boosts to 1410), all left at the default profile.

For comparison, I've just been playing some Batman AK, temps topped out at 72C with a fan speed of 1580 rpm (44%).

I'm using vsync, which means the GPU load has only been averaging 60-65%.

Ok just played and finished Dying light (brilliant game) the following pics show the sensors and the card speed now set at OC mode.

The temps are still the same at 85 deg

case wise i have a Phanteks Enthoo Primo with 2 fans in taking at the front, one from the bottom of the case, one exhaust, cpu cooled by a corsair 110i out the roof.

Previous card didnt hit these temps but whines really loudly, and so got this to make sure it was a gpu noise and nothing else before returning the card to Ocuk, and the new strix is silent, so the G1 is a definitely a faulty card.

running one rog swift 1440p 144hz.

Asic quality 76%

54% fan speed max is what's causing the temperatures.

Open up MSI Afterburner and set yourself a custom fan curve, you'll want it to be gradual and around 70% fan speed @ 70c.

OK now im really confused.

Ive got a whinning noise again after i just loaded up fifa 16, while it loads and after pressing the a to continue to the load save game screen the noise is really loud.
This had stopped when i put the new strix in today, but all of a sudden the noise has returned?
When i listen inside the case it sounds to me like its coming from the cpu area, now i cant see any damage or blown caps (solid ones any way on my board). could it be the cpu? mobo or the h100i?

The noise is not present when sat on the desktop but appears when loading fifa for instance and during game play.

I turned the overclock on the cpu off yesterday with the G1 980ti still in the system and the noise was still present?

I dont have spare parts here to test much and cant afford to be buying more just to see which is the culprit?

Help please?

What is the FPS on the Fifa loading screen? If it's >200 it's normal really.

Capping your FPS using RivaTuner i a great way to stop whine at higher FPS.

mmm now im going to have to test some more as ive never seen that before, will test both cards over next couple of days and see if its just a fifa 16 thing, thought it had happened during bf4 but will see.

Fps on loading screen of fifa is just ridiculously high into the thousands lol.

That'll be why the noise occurs, any high end GPU will whine when the card is pulling out 5000 FPS :p

I'm wondering if perhaps the cooler is not making perfect contact with the GPU? Mine needs nowhere near 70% Fans to stay below 80C.
