New Asus Z97-A owner here. Just finished installing.

I have four drives, 2 SSD 256mb and 2 HDD 2TB and a 3TB

Anyway, when i first fired up, it was seeing 3 of the 4 sata drives. OK, thought perhaps loose connection, powered everything down checked everything, which was ok, and fired it back up.. Same deal.. So i tried swapping around peripheral power connectors around, fired back up, now only seeing two drives... I was saying to myself what the heck, perhaps some of my modular cables are not worknig from my new PSU. Corsair AX860 btw, so tried changing some of those around, and didn't help..

So i thought ok, i'll throw in my old Corsair AX760 that i know for sure was working (and its original leads) as i this was my working rig up until my switching over to the Z97-A

Now no SATA ports are showing, in the bios at all....... Even changed all my SATA leads to the new ones that came in the box.

Lost for idea's.... Board seems to be great other than its not recognizing any SATA's...

I think i just have a bad board, I've eliminated the psu, by putting a known good one in.

Unless i'm missing something here ?

Is it me or has the last three yrs been pretty bad for bad mobo's ? i remember my last build i had to rma the board.

Has quality gone down the pan in recent yrs ?

No, well they were at first, three of them were, but now nothing is showing in the bios or o/s which obviously i can't get too, if nothing is showing in the bios.

If the drives are working in a different PC then it must be the board.

Stuff gets more complicated so more things to go wrong.

What on gods earth is going on ? Just rec'd my new board and its doing exactly the same thing.

Here's what i've done.

Swapped out the sata cables, swapped out the power supply, updated the bios, cleared out the CMOS, swapped out the MOBO !! thinking i had a faulty mobo...

I'm at a loss here. Googled this and seems i'm the only one. So its not like a special setting in the bios to get sata started.

i feel like throwing up. bwwaaaaah

no.... this is extremely worrying, ive just taken my two ssd's to my other rig and tried them, neither of them are now being recgonised... I hope something hasn't frazzled all four of my drives.. Two SSDs and two HDD's 3TBs This is very weird.

Does seem that something fried all four of my drives ? my psu is plugged into a surge protector, so not really sure how that's happened. only that this is going to be very costly. :(

Took another SSD out a different machine and it was immediately recgonised..

That would point to a PSU issue.

yes question is, was this a one off, and maybe a periheral cable wasn't fully plugged in correctly causing some arcing ? (pulling things out my butt here)

or will i loose another bunch of drives early next week, when i get some new ones.

only time will tell.

PSU is a new out the box Corsair AX860
