Where is a nice hotel in London to stay at the end of November for the Hyde park Winter Wonderland?

Is it worth staying right on the door or a littler further out and getting the tube to it?

Any recommendations in/around the area?

depends on your budget & what type of hotel you like (posh/hip/indie etc), there are some amazing hotels around hyde park but as with anything in london the closer you are the more ££££££

having lived in london for years theres no way i'd stay central it drives me up the wall

Depends how much you want to spend, and how late you book it, and how far you want to be from it,

IE if you got a room in advance, you could pick up a decent premier inn room in Aldgate, this is a brand new building, IIRC I paid £83 a night when I stayed there before and I was pleased with the building, it was all new.

I booked a room at Wembley park premiere inn for £39 for Nov 13th

Or you can find other hotels which may be a little more higher specced, but cost more.

Check hotels in The City on weekends - you're still very central but I find you can get much more for your money there, without being out in the sticks.

Lastminute's "top secret hotels" option is good - often Googling the description you'll find people have identified the specific hotel.

For me, the GF and two kids we're looking around £200-£230.

We're looking to book it soon (next week) to make sure we don't miss out.

Just checked both that are supposedly near Olympia or Earls Court (max distance away 1.5miles) and they are about £180, seems reasonable.

earls court is a good place to stay in/around, not far at all on the tube/buses to what you need to get to, plus the major shopping areas

To be honest with the transport links your only tube hops away from anything anyway, takes no time at all to get to places

The Earls Court one is a few minutes walk from Earls Court Tube which gets you the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines.

I stayed at the Hilton Double Tree at Marble Arch for £250 for 3 nights. I booked it through booking.com so it may have been a special offer but it's worth checking out. It was a pretty nice hotel for that price and you get a cookie at checkin.

I've no idea how close that is to Hyde Park but there's a tube station near by.

Another question regarding the tube, it's been many years since I've been to London and used the tube, what's the deal with passes for this now? Do I buy an Oyster card or can you buy/pre-book zone cards? Would probably only be staying in and around hyde park (zone 1 I take it?)

Just use a contactless debit or credit card.

Either a day pass for tube hopping if your planning to lots of hops

12 quid a day

Or contactless for a typical inner zone journey couple of quid

Hotel depends as i said above.
